Ah, i thought you guys had similar mods. So my impressions now doesn't matter :p Honestly i dont know what to expect since I havent heard AMP8 basic anyway!
Just tell us what you feel about your devices on your hands, and that is all every one of us want to see :). I still hold Amp8 in very very high regard

I've decided to stick with single ended to keep things simple with cables and adapters between devices. I've got an Amp7 to replace the 8 and a 9 on the way.....
So if anyone in the UK wants a month old like new Amp8 (with glass back) for a great price PM me.
And a 4.4mm Campfire litz cable for that matter :)

So do I understand correctly Amp9 is going to have less bass emphasis than we are used to?

I am listening right now and I find the bass presence to be great. This is a great sounding AMP but damn my A18t are sounding like a calm stream during quiet parts of songs. You have to crank up the volume with AMP 9 for sure.

Not at all. The bass quality from AMP9 is extremely good, much better than I thought it would be and ranking up there with the best, IMO. Good resolution of the bass, it goes low but not muddy and doesn't bleed into the lower mids. Good all around.

Amp9 needs about 10 hours to burn in that bass at the least. No, amp9 has greatest bass of them all in stock ...just not out of the box
I typed at the same time you did. lol Looks like we came to the same conclusion regarding the bass.

Also I don’t know if anyone has confirmed with a test but the battery life on AMP 9 seems to be significantly better than AMP1 MK 2.
I was not expecting it but I get very good play time. I am surprised, some of the best sound and also a long battery life. Who would have guessed? lol

I am using the Focal Stellia or the SR1 iBasso with very good results. Obviously, IEMs unless an outlier, work great. The IT04 are great fun with this and listening to live music is like you are there.

Yep I am super impressed with both the battery life and sound quality so far. I’ve been listening for about an hour and a half and I’ve only dropped 14%, that’s with Spotify streaming and WiFi turned on. Huge improvement over AMP 1 MK2. Based off of that percentage, at a consistent rate of 14% gone every 90 minutes, I should see somewhere around 9-10 hours of battery life. Granted I’m not sure that’s the most accurate way to calculate it though :p

My only gripe is the amount of hiss/background noise on quiet portions of songs but the sound quality is damn good.

WOW just found my old original UE900's and they sound AMAZING on the DX229!!

These are the IEM's that replaced my TF10's way back in the day and started me on this hobby! They honestly sound better than some I have here that cost hundreds of dollars. Go figure.

I had one of those after the TF10, Great sound for the price. It’s awesome how AMP9 can bring to life some old dead things... in special the music

I must say... I received both DX220 and AMP9 today and... my jaw dropped on the floor, really!

The most impressive AMP9 trait is dynamic range, it’s so huge!!!
I don’t find AMP9 tubey in a soft and warm kind of way but analog for sure with its vinyl like dynamic range... and nuances, boatloads of nuances to boot, this makes the listening experience so euphonic...

The other things that stands out if texture and depth!
Imaging is also superb and soundstage really really great and coherent.

The only other source that gave me similar goosebumps was the Susvara out of the Viva Egoista 845 tube amp with Hugo 2 as source... not the same price bracket :p

Amp9 needs about 10 hours to burn in that bass at the least. No, amp9 has greatest bass of them all in stock ...just not out of the box

I have trouble picturing this even better... oh my!
