I don't buy it. I mean look at the A&K Kaan. wi-fi, streaming (sort of I hear, don't use it) blutooth, only single dac though but sd and microsd slot. There are numerous other dual dac and dual slot units out there. For a number of reasons they just don't have the sound of the DX20Xxx. So from my perspective there is no reason for not having much more memory on board or in slots.

AK is using a different SoC presumably? I'm pretty sure that ibasso and AK have way different capabilities in sourcing SoCs.

Otherwise everybody would just source last gen Snapdragon SoCs and all they'd have to worry about would be the signal path.

Fiio, Onkyo/Pioneer, AK, even iBasso has the Dx120. It seems that the technology isn't the problem. It seems the manufactures want to push the memory debate onto the card makers. This debate has been going on for years. And the end will only come when one of those manufacturers decides they want to end it and build a truly end game machine. The DX2XX would be there except for the memory, imho, and I told @Paul that as well.

I will be hoping to look over the DX220 at Axpona but having to spend <$500 in memory cards above whatever the purchase price is does not make me happy.

Here's a crazy idea: Build-to-order. I would wait for delivery, and pay the price, if I could order the features I want on an already awesome platform.

I never understood why the dx200, x7, and Q5 don't come without the amp modules so you can order it with the amp card that suits your needs like low noise, balanced etc. It wouldn't concern being consumer friendly because these are targeted towards audiophiles. Also a balanced line out would be nice but that only seems to be on a&k. I'm gonna get studio monitors but I feel the need to now get a dac with dual xlrs just cause my Q5 doesn't have a balanced output to feed into the speakers, which is really expensive compared to just having the balanced line on a dap/portable dac

Well with the previous model DX200 already doing well in suppressing Noise...
just hope with better Noise reduction feature and much better UI exp. since DX200 need it so bad, IMO

The Catch is, Sony will be coming for WM1a replacement.... so many choice... hope can try it all

Do we have dimension info on DX220? Is this is same as DX200 in form factor?
If it's smaller and has similar tube sound as N8, I may consider.

Given that it will use the amp modules of the DX150/DX200 some of the dimensions are defined by that. From other information it looks to me to be approximately the size of the DX150/DX200 in overall size as well - but I could be wrong.

Anyone else have more info?

I started to do another AMP1ti clone the other day but wanted to try and improve on it, so i've been trying various caps and i'm amazed at the result. I've had turn the bass down on the EQ ( I had it pretty high)

Instead of using what ibasso chose for the AMP1ti
1 x Nichicon FW 1000uf 6.3v
1 x Toshin Kogyo 220uf 10v
4 x Panasonic HD 100uf 16v

It sounds logical now but I ended up with
1 x Nichicon KW 1000uf 16v
1 x Toshin Kogyo 330uf 16v
4 x Panasonic HD 100uf 16v (tried several others)
+TDK Sheets on ICs

For Reference, stock amp1 uses 2 x Nichicon FW 470uf only

Just been to the gym with the dx200/amp1ti(clone+) and still impressed.

I hope ibasso allow the dx220 to be open like previous models so lurker can work his magic. I use lurkers usb audio with hiby music player (playstore version with mseb) in usb dac mode so get the best of both worlds (dx200 higher spec hardware with R6/Pro features)

Another good side effect of that combo is if you lock the usb audio volume in hiby settings then the you cant accidentally adjust the volume in your pocket (more so on dx150 and maybe dx220) without sliding down from the status bar then you can adjust android volume.

DX220 is hot right now and is priority in production . So Korg tubes amp will take awhile and come later.
