iBasso is the best, they sent an Amp 8 to go with my new screwdriver :grimacing:

So the AMP8 eats bad recordings for breakfast. Some of my bad recordings are unlistenable. The bass gets bloated and you can't hear much besides bass. Sounds like Johnny Rzeznik is singing inside the bass drum. I know he doesn't do this... Anyone else seeing this?

FYI DSD 2X Jazz at the Pawnshop album sounds sublime!!!!! Lots of texture and clarity.

Damn it! I know I wrote this before, but the housing-resonances of the instruments and the lower-treble are so addictive on the Amp8 with HD800S. Both of these are so very hard to get at this level for an HD800S, period. For the HD800S to perform this much lower treble without sibilants is very much crazy for a portable.

all these posts about AMP8 got me intrigued. I checked CJ London exhibitor list. iBasso wasn't there as far as I've seen. But perhaps a dealer/distributor will have the DX200+AMP8. Most likely a fellow head-fier will bring one.
I've been A/Bing AMP4 and AMP8 with my Legend X and right now I'm sticking with AMP4. Still need many more hours of testing though as I'm sure AMP8 needs more burn-in. I prefer the extra treble extension on the 4 since my Legends and Thor II 8 wire smooth it out so the extra treble smoothness the 8 offers isn't needed. The 4 is feeling more energetic and musical but that could be brain burn-in for the time being since it's been my daily driver. I'll spend more time with the 8 this weekend, it does offer tighter bass and I hear better layering in the vocals, but personally I gravitate toward drum sounds and instrumentation since I'm a musician and the 4 is more pleasing to my ears. Also, the extra juice the 8 puts out drains the battery faster and I noticed the battery dropping while plugged in via USB which I don't notice with the 4. Since the Legends don't need the extra juice I'm sure full sized headphones will benefit more from the 8.
Could you give a # of hours you're getting with AMP4 and AMP8 on your Legend X. So I get a feeling of what to expect coming from the WM1A.

Only info so far is that it will use some upgraded components and will be very very expensive cause titanium is very very expensive to machine.

if Ibasso could keep the dual pro dacs, BUT use the snadragon 425 cpu that is in the hiby R6 (to improve the overall fluidity of the device, which is tortoise like sometimes in android mode with large libraries-400gb sd card. Yes I know mango mode is far smoother) AND also add a second sd slot (like the onkyo daps and the Kann)..... I would be in heaven. Who needs a titanium body

more powerful CPU may means shorter battery life too, i do have 400GB card in my dx200 and the only time i need to wait is to rescan my music libraries in Mango app under Android mode.

Yea, a 2nd SD card will be nice though.....:deadhorse:

So... Amp 8 initial impressions. Holy s#!+. I've never felt the Phantoms be this dynamic, have such great impact, and at this level of resolution. It's actually a bit dizzying for me at first while I get acquainted with it, but once I do, it's fantastic. Imaging has never been this concrete or energetic. Absolutely loving it. Burned in 5 hrs before first listen. More coming soon.

...

Anybody have a chance to compare Amp8 with Mojo?

Considering Chord was short-sighted by equipping Mojo with two (2!!) 3.5mm SE phone outs I don't bother with comparing it to balanced-only devices. Mojo should have had one 3.5mm SE & one 2.5mm balanced to be more versatile.
