No disagreement there. I have LCD 2, and Xc series Audezee and AMP 5 sounds exceptional but it's SE . Also pushes T90, and HD600. But you're right about larger cans, depending on Power or current it would matter fo him.

IMO you should look at the objective first and the means second. Going balanced on its own makes no sense. Going balanced because more power is needed or because the balanced output and implementation of a particular device grants you certain sonic benefits, does. Not all balanced outputs are created equal, at all.

So, if he needs more power for larger cans, get Amp 3. Though yes, he may need to purchase a cable along the way if he doesn't have one with 2.5mm termination.

Totally agreed in my situation with HD600 and stock cable on amp5 there was no juice at all...

Why?

Compared to AMP4, AMP4S presents sound in a colored way. Not too much, but the coloration is there. On some tracks it becomes too rich. Though it maintains its transparency to the source, it still doesn't sound exactly the same as what the source is presenting.

Just by my hearing both.

It's my experience and the experience of others might vary. And their preference might be different. But that's how I hear it. I'm not saying amp4s sounds bad.

Between the two I'll always choose amp4. It's that good. And my unit didn't have any connection problems reported by others. That's a bonus.

@fuhransahis : Using the latest stock firmware + MANGO mode, AMP4 gives 3D soundstage (sphere shape), whereas AMP4s tends to oval shape with forward vocal in comparison. AMP4 has better detail retrieval, deeper sub-bass and shares speedy&snappy feeling while AMP4s excels on smoother vocal, smoothen treble and shares relax feeling. (though my AMP4S don't passed burn-in period yet.)

That is silly but I guess you are making some sort of joke.

Both the 4 and 4s do excellent but I think those with the 4s newly acquired need to let it burn in. The 4s sounds amazing to me. Cello has a wonderful resonance and body to the sound. Violin, sweet overtones and delivery. Layering and imaging are great with both the 4 and 4s. Great stuff!
