As for now, tested the lineout of AMP1 to the my Portatube + and the results were outstanding. 10x overall better sound!! It was godlike performance. Soundstage was huge, all frequencies were weighty and full! And all the details were there piercing my brain! I hope AMP5 can recreate this perfomance if it doesnt I have to take out the portatube from the sale section. I cant go back to stock AMP1 now to be honest.

okay I received the AMP5 today, super fast shipping btw!! GJ IBasso. I've asked the question whether the AMP5 can touch the performance of my preffered stack (AMP1 LO to Portatube +) and the answer is a resounding yes!!!! the weight of all the notes, the power, the soundstage!!! all w/o losing details!! so much WIN!! goodness me...what an improvement...

I guess the Portatube+ is back on sale lol

Yes, i notice the same with interface, like i mentioned in my post above. It is very smooth now. and yes too to the AMP4. Now it sounds like WM1Z

Pure Mango mode is definitely smoother in scrolling. Overall this is a very welcoming upgrade.

Sonically the new f/w’s signsture bridges the gap between the DX200 & the NW-WM1Z (for me, more so in Android mode to the 1Z, than in pure mango mode to the 1Z - will still need more time to listen).

Are you getting a loss of sound for 1 second or a 1 second gap along with the gapless mode?

Amp2 vs. Amp5... differences in sound?

I have amp2 w/ Westone W80 and DHC pure silver cable. It sounds great! But if I could get a little "fatter" tone w/ the amp5, I'd do it.

I know there's really no way to know for sure other than getting it and trying it out. But any opinions? I don't plan to use full size headphones with it... just the W80. Is there THAT much difference in sound between amp2 and amp5?... or is the amp5 mainly just for harder to drive phones?

To me the AMP5 is even more open sounding and has a natural presentation of the notes. A full sound but yet a very nice space and black background. I use it with IEM's or headphones. No hiss at all.

And I am happy to report that the new lurker's firmware and AMP5 is getting incredible battery life..1h30mins of a mix of DSD and Flac only 9% battery used.. outstanding!

Besides that, I think that AMP5 sounds excellent from the first moment connecting it!

yeah, just wondering if it will improve cos this AMP sounds amazing with Lab01s. Shock and Awe is what Im feeling right now..
