Dunu TITAN Series (new for 2019: Titan 6) [Page 196]

which titan family will suit metal better?

I listen to mostly metal songs such as songs from Metallica, Disturbed, Evanescence, Lamb Of God and many more...

any help would be appreciated ^_^

I would actually recommend the Titan-1 in this case because of the balanced presentation of frequencies. The lower end has the right heft and speed. Up top, things like cymbals are more upfront but they lend themselves useful in portraying energy especially with metal. Guitars too chug and bite.

There's only one trade-off: they are known to leak because of their semi open design.

I have actually auditioned them, and currently own the 3, and since I listen to a lot of the same music I would recommend the 3 over the 5. The 5 is not as mid forward as the 3 and pushes the lower (bass) frequency up front, which to me doesn't work as well. Of course I feel they are much more similar than different, and can't really go wrong with either, but for that specific genre I would go with the 3.

  HI Brooko,

I normally like a bit of warm for my headphone, just a bit though (currently using oppo pm-3 but it proves to be unsuitable at work), although with that said I'm not quite sure about the neutrality of the titan 3, and I feel like although v-shaped the titan 5 will suit me better, since I like metal, problem is I can't audition them atm.

Thanks for that.  If you mean warmth through the mid-range and mid-bass, I'd concentrate on the T1 first - but as 1TrickPony said, it comes at a cost of isolation.  I still regard the T1 as being absolutely 5 star for sonics.

If you need a greater degree of isolation (internal and external), and the choice is solely between T3 and T5, then your choice is easy.  T5 will give you the bass warmth you want, T3 won't.

T3 is very mid focussed, lean, and very forward.

T5 would be closest to the PM3 signature

T5 is more balanced from point of view of bass warmth, and the mid-range is slightly further back.  I have all 3.  Depending on your preferences for things like soundstage, isolation etc - the order I'd suggest is T1 > T5 > T3 (for your needs).

I had the pleasure of trying the Titan 3 with the cp100 - really really did well in channeling the mids and bringing out some subbass while keeping everything else in line! Bravo and congrats again Dunu
