DUNU - Discussion/Impressions Master Thread

Today I got my repaired right Glacier earpiece back from Dunu and it's perfect again (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/dunu-discussion-impressions-master-thread.961127/post-18601207).

I've been told it was the some mid-range BA that got damaged somehow. I've been buying Dunu products for more than 10 years and this is the first time anything happened, so I'm just tossing this in the "unlucky" pile, it's probably very very rare. For the record, I bought the Glacier last year in November and I listened to it daily since then.

The repair turnaround was 19 days, I sent the earpiece in on the 5th of March and I got it back today the 24th of March.

Most people don't really know it, and I am surprised that it doesn't happen more often, but BA transducers are very delicate, and a simple drop can damage them. Basically you have a "stick" balanced, and held in place by a magnet on either side; each exerting their force on the "stick". Jar it too hard and the "stick" gets off track and is no longer affected by one or both of those magnet's magnetic field.

This, btw is a super over simplification......

Bruh, these looks so sick. With red accents it will give darth vader vibe. @DUNU-Topsound please consider releasing some other colorways in DK-3001BD it will look so cool.

Oh I know how delicate BAs are, I never dropped mine or mistreated in any way. I actually baby my stuff pretty seriously.

Just unlucky I guess.

For DSD512 is that native, or DOP?

@audionewbi keep in mind that DSD512 cannot be transmitted via USB-A unless you convert it to DOP (DSD over PCM), if you were considering a PC as a source. It is possible with USB-C though.

For DSD512, it is native.

I am honestly surprised that the Glaciers do not get more attention. I bought them 2.5 months ago, initially as a temporary solution (I can't tolerate my HE1000se for long hours due to a recent medical procedure). Apart from maybe the slightly hot upper midrange, the sound quality is simply excellent. And the soundstage even surpasses the HE1000se... unbelievable! My search for a final pair of IEMs has come to a standstill, because I cannot find anything that better suits my personal preferences (almost regardless of budget).
