Ridiculous price. The DT770/600 was $185, and I HAD to go for them (Tursday actually, lol)... though I have only had the DT990/600 for a few weeks and they were $229. I'm almost positive the sound isn't $50 better than the 250ohm. :(

I can't wait for my DT770s to arrive as a nice contrast to my 990s...

I had the DT770 Pro 80s, and these are supposed to be COMPLETELY different.

Argh, this is killing me!

Between these 990s, the HD 25 ii that I bought yesterday and the AKG K240 mkii that I have on the way, my wallet is hating me right now.

The amazon warehouse had one pair of DT990/600's for $196. I got them three days ago and they are in perfect like new condition. Not to mention they sound fantastic!!!!

Please post your impressions Envy, as the 770's have also been on my watch list for some time. I haven't heard the pro but I fear that the bass would be far too much for my tastes; if the 600 ohm is closer to the DT 880 then I will definitely get them in time.

I had used these for 3 years along with an AKG k701 and I always liked them. I ended up having to sell both of them when I needed money a few years ago.

I'd like to try another pair, but it's too bad I just bought some D2000s and really love them. It's the most fun headphone i've heard yet.

I wonder how the DT-990 compares to the D2000.

It's quite strange how I'm not a huge fan of most of the Beyer Dynamic headphones i've tried but I did like the DT-990. I do like the DT-880 600 a lot, but not enough to keep it.

I wonder how the mids on the DT-990 are compared to the D2000. The mids are perfectly OK to me on the D2000 as long as I amp it.

The 770 Pro 80s are a bass cannon. So much bass that it smears over the rest of the sound. Too much bass for my liking. The 990s got the bass right. Tight, quick, refined, yet still incredibly deep and thumpy. I honestly can NOT believe that an open headphone can pull off the kind of bass the 990s have. I have owned headphones like the XB700, which was also a bass cannon. That shows you just how awesome the 990's bass is. It bests those because it doesn't ruin the rest of the sound.

I meant for when you get the 770/600's as I would like to know how different they are from the Pro/80's, and how they compare to what you remember of the DT 880. Your impressions of the 990 though are much appreciated.

Looking at the Headroom graphs, the 600ohm version has a lot less bass than the 32 and 250ohm. I don't want a bass cannon, but the graphs show a severe lack of low end. <__<

The 770 is the only one I've seen to have such a huge change depending on ohms. The 32 and 250 are nearly identical, but the 600 is very different until you hit the mid range, where they all start looking nearly identical. Someone mentioned a bass reflex system possibly being in the 32 and 250ohm. Oh well, no use in assuming they are bass light until I get them. I wanted them to be more balanced, and I'd add the bass if I needed it....

Sorry to derail this thread, but does the 770 80 ohm have more bass than the D2000? I imagine the DT-990 isn't as bass heavy as the D2000...

It's weird though that I had my DT-990 for 3 years and had no clue it was considering bass and treble heavy! Back then I never knew about head-fi.

I compared them and felt the DT770s had a significant amount more bass than the D2000s. I also felt that the bass quantity of the DT990s was roughly equal to the D2000s but it was a little bit different type of bass.

This thread was derailed a long time ago, and I don't care. As a basshead audiophile, my next purchases are likely to be the DT990 and D2000. Have you guys seen the Beyer BS Thread? http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/506963/dt880-600ohm-bs
Do you think there's any real difference between the 250-ohm and 600-ohm DT990 when both are given enough current?

Oh and another thing - its been 1 day and the same DT990/250 is now going for $209! Why do Amazon's headphone prices change so much? There can't be that much of a change in supply and demand within 24 hours, right?

I think that going by the Beyer BS thread, the 880s and 990s are close to the same no matter what ohm rating, and your equipment is what may make one better than the other. I'm referring to being nearly the same in regards to ohm ratings, not that the 880 and 990 are the same. They're most definitely not.

I'm gonna assume that the 250ohm and 600ohm differences are probably 5% or less when it comes to distinguishing differences. With the DT770, there is definitely a significant difference going by how much of a difference there is between the 32/250 vs 600ohm in graphs.
