I've been planning to upgrade from my Ath-m50's and had it narrowed down to the He-300, but the what do I discover? That Beyerdynamic's dt 990 (MSRP $395) are being sold for $200 on Amazon. I currently own the Hifiman Ef2a for an amp.
So my question is what is the overview of these two cans and which should I buy.

P.S. I can also get the Dt 880 for $200 if it matters.

The ef2a but il have money to buy one if reccomended. I plan to get the Dt 990 because I want the fun sound signature I just wanted to know if there was a reason they're so cheap ( I live in the US btw)

Maybe Beyerdynamic keeps the price down to be able to sell more headphones?

They have not done any changes for the DT990 Pro 250-Ohm in almost 10 years,
so they have made back their R&D money?
