Don't be shy, contact us directly with problems with your FiiO!

Hi,

Just received my Fiio X1 and noticed right away that it has problems loading the songs. Every time I start a new song i stutters for about 5 seconds before playing the rest of the song normally. Some times it even stutters in the middle of my songs.
I'm using a brand new Sony microSD card (which cost more than the Fiio), and it's loaded with .flac-files playing 92kHz/24bit. I don't believe any of that should cause it, but I'm new to this type of files, so for all I know.

Is this a know problem/is there an easy solution? Bought this from the US to Norway, so I really wanna avoid sending it back/to China.

Please help!

I had a similar problem with my new X3ii (on 1.4) it would randomly stutter on high resolution (192/24 - 96/24) flacs. What i did was re-encode my files as aiff files, still at 192/24 or 96/24, and they play perfectly now.

My thinking is that there may be some issue with high resolution flacs.

Hope this helps.

Hey, i have just uploaded the album "Dark Side Of The Moon" from Pink Floyd to my Fiio X1 and it somehow lost almost all of the singing in all of the songs. It works perfectly on PC and i havent heard anything like this before with other files. Its in 44.1khz Surround FLAC and you can onl hear a very very quiet, mushy singing in every song. What could be the problem?

Problem there would be that the X1 is only reading the left and right channels of that surround mix. :xf_eek:

I would encourage you to try this headphone processing player for 5.1 tracks:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/kk3zxqessdzaxlg/foobar2000-5.1%20%26%20crossfeed%20to%20headphones%202.zip?dl=0

It not only takes all channels into account, it takes them into account in such a way as to actually attempt to make 5.1 recordings sound like they come from 5.1 speakers when you listen through headphones (unlike regular programs that just copies all 6 streams to either the left or right earcup). There's also presets for exporting processed 5.1 recordings to stereo flacs, so you can put these on the X1 instead of the original 5.1 recording, which both saves space and improves the sound effect. :)

Best regards,
Joe

Some things to try:

1. Format the card in the X1 (so that the card format is easier for the X1 to read)
2. Try a different card
3. Does your flacs have a lot of metadata (e.g. big album art)? If so, try removing some of the metadata.

HELLO JOE BLOGGS AND FIIO DEVELOPERS! I have carefully tested new X5 FW2.6 firmware and found some bugs and interface inaccuracy. I’ve been waiting for fixing them more than a year, posted this bugs on fiio forum but they are still there in FW2.6 firmware.

1. When I play folder with cue sheet and file without album information embedded it doesn’t show the album title from cue sheet on display. It shows “Unknown album”. If I play folder with cue sheet and file with album information embedded it shows the album title from file instead of the cue sheet. Cue sheets are made correctly and work on any other players and Foobar on PC correctly. Please make the correct displaying of album information from Cue sheets.

2. When I play folder with cue sheet it shows on display track title with extension .WAVE:

“Track01.WAVE”, “Track02.WAVE”, “Track03.WAVE”… even if the music file is in Flac or Ape format. It always shows extension “.WAVE”. The same is when I browse in folder or scroll by the ring in track list. Please remove this extension and just display track title like for any other files.

3. When I scroll by the ring in track list it always shows file name with extension even if I set it in menu to use Title (File name display > Title).

4. Please change the name of the option in menu “File name display” to “Track name display”. In English it is correct translation.

5. When I Delete the whole folder it asks to press OK and then displays “File deleted”. In English the correct translation is “Folder deleted”

6. When I browse in folder, select track and choose in shortcuts menu to delete, it’s displayed on top “Delete whole folder”. In English the correct translation is “Delete file”. I press OK and it shows “File deletion failed”

7. When I scroll by the ring in track list, the text is shifted a little bit to top. Please move it 4 pixels lower so it is centered on screen. If the list is less than 7 tracks it is also shifted to top, not at the center of the display. Please move down so it is centered on screen.

8. When I browse in folder the file selection is highlighted with orange lines. On bottom of display these orange lines are shifted 2 pixels lower than grey grid lines. The same is when I browse in playlists or by category.

9. When I play large files (size is 2.5 Gb, 176.4 kHz / 24 bit) in format wav it doesn’t play and says “File format not supported”.

10. When I play by folder, and “Play through folder” option is on, I set play mode to “Repeat” but it doesn’t repeat the folder. Instead it changes to next folder. Please correct “Repeat” mode.

11. When I update library it shows total number of songs for example 910 songs. But when I check in System settings > About X5 > it displays “Total no. of songs: 900songs”

12. In Menu > System settings > About X5 > “SD card 1 total capacity: 64 G” In English the correct translation is 64 Gb instead of 64 G. In Menu > System settings > About X5 > “Total no. of songs: 900songs” please add a space after number 900)

Please, write me if you need my help. I will you explain if you don't understand something

Aloha,

My Fiio X5 just quit working after charging it... When plugged in, the light shows green, but will not turn on...I have tried everything reset, hold down the power button, with no success. I have many Fiio products and love them all but after only a year with hardly any use, this is very disappointing to have happen. I have sent an email to support without a reply and would like to send for service asap.I bought this from Pitbull Audio and they requested I contact Fiio directly concerning issues.Could I pose a question since the US has so many dealers why do we not have service center here? If this device was cheap it would be not worth fixing but its no...Thank you for any helpful feedback

Also, this thread was meant as an invitation to pm me directly

Hi ! I don't know if I post in the right section but i've got a problem with my brand new Fiio X1.
I explain, When i create a file with songs from various artists, it doesn't show up in "category" but i've got to go through "browse files" to access the file.
Also, is it normal that when I take the sd card out or that I delete the content of it, the songs are still recorded in the X1 but of course when you try to play it, it shows a error message. My question on this one is how can I remove it ? Thank you.

Hello Ishak,

Regarding the Category problem, you need to update the media library first. Go to System Settings and click OK (centre button) on Update Media Lib and that should take care of it.

Regarding the second question, are you using a Mac or a PC?

Regarding the second problem, updating the media library also clears the deleted or removed songs from view, yes?

You can press the lower left or right button while Update Media Lib is selected to change it from Manual to Auto, and it will take care of updating for you most of the time.

Yes, it's normal for the player to get a little hot after extended use. Not to worry. :)

I am having a problem with my E-12 (original version).  It was working fine then suddenly the volume knob got very hard to turn.  It still works and sounds great aside from this.  Is there a DIY fix I can do?
Thanks !
Eric

Hello Eric,
Sounds like some rubber ring came loose inside the pot. Since these pots are sealed units though the best solution would be to desolder the pot and solder a new one in. Would your DIY skills be up for that?

I am fair at soldering

.  As long as we aren't talking about surface mounts, I can do it.  Where do I get the replacement pot?

Thank you very much,
Eric

Please contact support@fiio.net detailing your issue and tell them you would like to receive a replacement volume knob and pot for DIY repair, and they should sort you out

I copied and pasted our conversation to the support email you suggested.  The response was for me to send them my invoice (to verify warantee).  I have had the unit longer than a year.
It appears the support group does not know about this thread you have going here.  They wanted me to send it to them for repair.  The shipping and repair costs are probably more than the unit is worth.
