1. Depends on what you mean by "factory restore". If this means returning back to original firmware, then I think that this is not possible via system settings or any other way - at least if I am to believe your own web site. In system settings there is just "reset factory defaults" option, which, according to user manual, resets all settings to factory defaults. I have not changed them anyway, at least in last few months when problem developed itself.
 
2. Yes, player unlocks and stops playing without pressing any buttons. This mostly happens during hikes, but can happen as well when player stays quietly on my desk. This happens on different types of music, though lately I mainly listen to FLAC files ripped from my own CDs (i.e. 16 bit/44.1 kHz). File length can be anything, short or long - there is no obvious dependency on file length. When player unlocks and playing stops, I see normal screen with album artwork and rest of the data that appears there during normal playback or when I stop playing myself.
 
3. Player becomes very warm during playback (and anyway I cannot listen to the music when player is being charged). This refers to playback inside the room. When I am hiking, it's fairly cold outside (about 0 Centigrade or so) and I cannot notice whether it is very warm, as I am wearing gloves and carrying it in my hands. If I put it in my pocket, music stops almost immediately.
 
4. As I reported earlier, I am using 2 microSDXC Sandisk 200 GB cards, which are rated at 90MB/sec read speed. I do not have any other spare cards of reasonable capacity (I guess I have one old 8 GB card) and I am not willing to invest another 60 - 70 CHF into something that I likely will never need just for the sake of checking.

1. Yes, I mean  the 'reset factory defaults' option. You can try this but if you don't want you can not do this as well.
 
2. Could you please check whether the 'supports in-line headphone control' option from system setting is on? If yes, please turn it off to see whether it helps?
 
3. For the temperature of the product, not sure whether it is because of the battery issue. If you are capable to dissassemble the product, maybe you can check whether it is swollen now.

I received my new Fiio X5 2nd gen yesterday
 
Loaded on my songs across 2x128gb SHDC cards
 
First card fine. Left second card updating media library.  Came back and I have a blue creen with columns of numbers. Player is unresponsive and cannot turn on or off.
 
Can this be rectified or should I return it?

OK found that if I held on/off for 10 secs it allowed me to stop and start it.  Files all appear top be there but player will not find any music when searching by album or artist. Files are held in a folder for each album.
 
Have re tried updating library - the first sd card has 9000 tracks. It counts them up and an hour later nothing has happened - it says updating but the orange circle has not been moving - how long should this take?

Please try to reset the media library and update the media library again to see whether it helps?
And please try to update the firmware and format the card as well.

I have carried out all theses steps at least twice.  The Media update always hangs at a different point and does not comnplete forcing a reset of the player.
 
My opld I pod had no issues with the same files

OK, I tried your4recommendation 2. This setting was "On", so I changed it to "Off". At first it seemed like a solution to the problem. But player worked without stops only when it was sitting quietly on my desk. As soon as I took it for a walk, stops returned. And during walks it is as useless as it was before setting change.
 
As for recommendation 3, I would gladly disassemble the player, if some smart person would not use screws which require 5-star screwdriver. Never seen such thing in my life... incredible.
 
Net, I can only repeat - idea was good, but manufacturing quality completely kills great idea. Too bad that I spent so much money on your product. Will go and look for something better now...

Why, when I pass the card from my fiio x1 to x1 II this one does not show the album cover?

Please check whether the cover display switch is off from system setting first. What is the firmware version of your X1II?

Cover display switch is on,firmware 1.4.1.Only on flac file whit cover album added with program don't show,mp3 file cover album show regular.

Would you mind sending one of the Flac files with this issue to us? The cover is Embedded or external one?

I just got the X3ii and I'm loving it. I have just added my library with a good 128GB Micro SD card and the library keeps updating (it's on auto) despite the fact that I haven't added anything new. Any thoughts how I can fix this apart from turning off auto library update?

I just received the x3ii and really enjoy it. I have my screen turn off really quick. Is there a setting to have the x3 display the album art as soon as it starts a new song?
