... I said somewhere in this forum a long time ago : PS1000s are the best John Grado headphones I've heard; I pretty much heard every single Grado headphones in existence with exception of HF-2 and first batch of SR325, and PS1000 are the most musical and most listenable Grado headphones. But for 1.7k USD, it is just not worth it IMO, even with comparing other super expensive headphones.

Being said, I am eagerly waiting for my PS500 to arrive.....

Well... what do you think... how does the PS500 compare to the PS1000's?

After just demoing the PS500's... I'm thinking about picking up a pair... or, possibly... the PS1000's.  I thought the PS500's were better than most of the other phones I've had  - which include most.  If the PS1000's are better yet... I may try a pair... but, for now... I'm focused on the PS500's!

Can't find the PS1000's to demo (In Dallas).  I've seen several reviews / comments, which report the PS500's are better than the PS1000's, which is why I wonder about the PS1000's.

I await more feedback on how they compare...

i am a grado fan owned all the top models of grado. Ps500
Ps500 is a very good headphone that keep the essense of Ps1000.
But they are not Ps1000. Ps1000 are much more details, bass goes deeper and overall much better than ps500.
and they are in different levels. there is no need to compare them to each other.

the only shortcoming of Ps1000 is the weight. but thre is no problem for 2 hour long listening.
you are listening the best sound in the world.I have listened to ps1000 for whole day yesterday.
i felt my life is so good becos i owned them. If you like grado and Ps500, buy their best.

I had listened to ps1000 for whole day yesterday.
i felt my life is so good and i am so gratitude becos i owned them.
So if you like grado and Ps500,
buy their best.

i garantee they are the best.

Why are you guys complaining about the weight?

You're talking about the burning sensation after one hour you get on the top point of your head on which the headband resides? I'm getting this even with my RS1, which is the second lightest Grado after the RS2i.

You solve the problem easily by putting this between your head and the headband:

(buying link, 100% cotton, breathable, cheap, and black so that it doesn't stick out of the rest in case you want to wear it in public (mine is gray) http://www.ebay.com/itm/High-Quality-Black-Cotton-Sweat-Band-Sweatband-head-headband-Sport-Unisex-Tennis-/220853999291?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item336bec96bb#ht_2661wt_1110)

I use it will all my Grados, and wash it from time to time.

I have worn my all metal HP-2 ultimate weapon (weight as much as a sword, believe me) for 16 hours without any discomfort. Have it makes your head larger to the headphone and reduce the clamping pressure a little.

I bet PS1000 with this thing, is the most comfortable headphone in the world... don't limit yourself and buy a GS1000i just because of that (burning sensation)! lol
