Actually just EML mesh plates, for some reason the camera exposure caught them as purple. I was too lazy to retake the pictures and just posted them.

Interesting that the exposure caught the light as purple. Does it only happen with the EML Mesh? And does it happen at every shutter speed, or just the low ones?

An Aficionado is probably the next option I would consider given your criteria given that is offers that 2A3 goodness but is still very clean.

I haven't heard any EC amps but from what I've read they are a bit on the lean side. Anyway by pure chance I found something that might give the Stratus a run for it's money. The Stratus easily beat the WA5 but this...this is something else

Given that headphone amps are very sensitive to headphone choice (and maybe vice-versa),. and that all of our brains are wired differently when it comes to interpreting what goes into our ears, and that past experience plays a big role in one's preference for "sound", I think it's always fair to say "IMO". But, if that's your personal experience, then that's good for you and others can certainly use your statements as something of a guide.

HELP with re-packaging!!! I am shipping my Stratus. I have the original box and most - if not all - the packaging.

I have three questions (see the attached picture):

1. How/where does the smaller jig that is I have laid down on the left side of the amp (on top of the box) fit into the box? It's hard for me to imagine.

2. I have the box in which the tubes, etc, came (but it's not shown in the picture). How/where does it fit in the box?

3. Is there any other packaging that came for the inside of the box (except for the clear plastic cover).

I would greatly appreciate some help from members.

Nothing in the packaging apart for the clear plastic as far as I remember. The tube box I think it was on top so it should fit once the amp is in it's box.

This is the way my Stratus was packed:

- Tube box went underneath the amp chassis in the small clearance between the bottom of the box and bottom of the chassis made by the left/right foam inserts. There were then two small rolls of bubble wrap placed on either side of the box to keep it from sliding around too much.
- The large cutout of the jig (at the bottom of the picture) went over the mains transformer. The jig sits perpendicular to the amp chassis, e.g. the thin end faces the top of the box.
- The chassis was wrapped in plastic before the left/right inserts were placed on either side of the amp.
