For this reason. The DAP and my body are thermally isolated from the amp, since I pretty much always use it on class A/ tube. This is my version of portability: being able to make coffee and wander around without having to interrupt my listening. I really wouldn't take this down the street like this, but it's fine for inside. I made this out of a piece of mirror-polished stainless that I ordered cut to size and then I bent it into this shape. The DAP case and the back of the C9 are attached with industrial velcro.
welldone, this is out of the box thinking! awesome !

A bit late to the party, but thanks to @Ckro the DTR1 is now part of my collection. I'd tested @Mimouille 's unit a while back and remembered that several HFiers recommended its lineout performance.

Well, glad to report that I fully agree. My ALO Continental v5 finally found its ideal partner. The combo exceeds the DTR1 solo output, music gains refinement and depth, with VE8 and EM10 ciems.

Looks like the Penon Totem and a matching interconnect. Noice.

Totem IC and 2pin cable for the EM10 indeed. There's quite a big color shift between the two but hey, it sounds fantastic.

Enthusiasm not wavering in the least. Love what this combo produces. Excellent addition to my rotation of DX300, LPG, AP80+DH80 and RSA F-35 combo.

Seconded!

Trying A8000 with Ibrahim Maalouf's Illusions right now.

Track 4, Nomade Slang, plays really well.

Yes, the Continental v5 came out in 2016 Q4. ALO collaborated with amp designer Vinnie Rossi, who was also known at the time for his Red Wine AK mods.

It followed the ALO Continental Dual Mono, a balanced tube dacamp.

Default valve is a dual triode 6111, which is too neutral for me. The Raytheon 6832 suits my tastes better. Fast and dynamic, more euphonic.

There are not that many daps with a good lineout and adequate size. DTR1 has both, plus has the same type of sober metal case. Synergy between the two is a blessing.

The album I used on the last photo is a very energetic release of the Dave Holland Quintet : Critical Mass. On track 'Lucky Seven', there's a drum solo beginning at 4'40.

Recording level is lower to allow DR headroom, volume can be pushed higher than usual. The impact of the drums and tactile finesse of cymbals is orgasmic. DTR1 + Cv5 conveys this very nicely.

Fully agree with your observations. I’m also using 6832 as well as 6111 too sterile for my taste.

To my ears and my customised cables, it’s a game end combinations, but we know it won’t happen in this hobby…lol

I just busted the headphone jack on my DTR1 - has anyone had theirs repaired in the US?
