Yep, I am working on a written review on Tender 1 too, and indeed it wats power like candy . The matching between Tender 1 and Dethonray Prelude is the best you can get from the Tender 1, they work really well together.

I am making a video too about Tender 1 + Prelude together :)

I’ll be looking forward to that too. Glad to see more people reviewing and mentioning the Tender as well. I’m enjoying the Tender and circling the DTR1+. It took a bit of work (and a lot of power) for the Tender to sound amazing. It’s also extremely intriguing. I happen to believe that both tip and cable rolling makes a difference, but I’ve never encountered another IEM whose sound changed so significantly depending the tips and cable used. It literally shifted the needle from active dislike to love.

Which cable you're using? The stock cable is SPC or pure silver?

Oh, I should try some tip rolling and cable rolling as well then!

Only tried them with the defaults so far 7

Pure silver. For some reason the Tender doesn’t seem to like anything with copper in it - at least not for my tastes.

Fortunately the stock black tips were among the few that worked for me. My takeaway from rolling through dozens of tips and cables was a newfound appreciation for how Dethonray clearly chose their limited accessories carefully and chose them well.

(Separately, anyone know where I can get more of the stock black tips? It literally makes me anxious knowing that the Tender’s performance hinges so significantly on a single pair of tips that I can’t readily replace.)

I am sure that if you need a spare set of tips, Mr. Anson can help you :)

Pure silver. I tried other cables, copper, silver, gold-plating. The effect is not as good as I expected. I wrote to Anson and he said that he selected this pure silver cable in 60 samples and didn't recommend me to try. And he thinks I couldn't find a substitute in 200-300 USD.:)

Diana!!! As I know it is a hard drive gear. How does it work with C9?
These are Diana Phi's which take a lot of power. Pretty much you have to run high gain, balanced, and tube class A and even then you are going at least 40% on the volume. They sound tremendous, though, and cross comparing it to the same C9 setup with Hifiman HE1000se which have a low power requirement, these sound even better, so it seems to run them adequately.

Of the things I have tried with my C9 amp (DX220MAX, N6ii with A02 board) DTR1+ is far and away the best. Original DTR is second, but also very pleasing, leaner and drier.
HI great Set up! btw, on the silver metal plate - do you have specific reason on that?

For this reason. The DAP and my body are thermally isolated from the amp, since I pretty much always use it on class A/ tube. This is my version of portability: being able to make coffee and wander around without having to interrupt my listening. I really wouldn't take this down the street like this, but it's fine for inside. I made this out of a piece of mirror-polished stainless that I ordered cut to size and then I bent it into this shape. The DAP case and the back of the C9 are attached with industrial velcro.
