Watched it last night, LOL - I just ignore it. He admit that the DTR1+ sounds excellent tho (more than 2 times)
and good luck to those who will get it in $250 ish haha

I also wouldn't pay attention to his review it is not objective, just some burst of emotions, there is almost nothing said about sound and this is what DTR1+ is about, surely if someone expects bluetooth and other mojo then sure it is a disappointment. Sure some things could be improved and price could be more friendly.

He basically didn't say anything about sound performance. I don't have the DTR1+ but it's on my want list and I already know what to expect. It's just a device to play your Hires files. Just plain simple!

Also the obsession with balanced output is annoying when a single ended output when properly implemented can be better. And the DTR1 seems to have a lot of power. I agree about the display, at this price point it should have a better one. No idea how is the UI and software.

For me feature is secondary as SQ is always my priority in audio- am still a renaissance old guy who prefers to rip my existing cd collections than streaming.

No doubt Power is crucial, but the authoritative manner DTR1+ delivers those body and soul with a smooth vivid musical flavour the way I love my music to be heard is much better than my DX2Max and portable amp. So, whatsoever, final output and preferences matters most.

To my ears, DTR1+ synergised very well with my IMR lots. Gives a solid foundation with excellent rhythms. Was listening to Bee Gees and Bob Marley last night with IMR Bass Cannon, sonic bliss! And if you add Keb’ Mo’ in etc…mind blowing.

For all those old-times who love a simple portable music player with basic functions but a beautiful sound, Dethonray decided to go all in with their Prelude DTR1+ Music Player.

This is a minimalistic music player with all the basic functions, and the sound they managed to give to it is outstanding. To say that it sounds analogue-like would be an understatement, so if you're into warmer and clean sounding DAPs, it should be perfect for you!

I can't promise it will do all the things you dream of, but I can say for sure it plays music well. I include comparisons, pairings and details about the Prelude DTR1+ from Dethonray and my journey to using a simple yet beautiful sounding DAP in my full written review on a proper successor to QLS and other minimalistic DAP makers.

Great read. It's king of overwhelming the comparison with WM1Z, it's not the first time I read the DTR1 can compete with the Sony.

Also I'm curious if you will review the Tender I. It seems it was tuned with the DTR1+ to get the best sound of it. It needs a lot of power too.
