Denons 2000 not much bass

You can get the 1100's for $135 right now...

And they're supposed to have a lot more bass than the Denon 2000/5000...
 
 


To be clear: we're talking about 3x - 5x the amount of bass when compared to the D5000/2000 at similar volume levels and flat EQs.


You went from "supposed to have a lot more bass" to "were talking about 3x-5x the amount of bass"

Which is it?

Have you ever done a side by side comparison of the D1100 and the D2000/5000?

Try out Trentemøller's Evil Dub.  About halfway through, it has some of the deepest and most impactful bass I've heard.  James Blake's Limit to Your Love is also another very bassy song, the low bass wobbles and has good visceral property.  (no youtube please)
 
If the D2000 doesn't excel at reproducing those songs, then I think there might be a problem with the source you're using.
 
I think more or less though, the whole 'some songs jam while others dont' thing sounds like differing masterings of different songs.
