I just picked up a stock D5K cable with a Furutech 1/4 plug...

Now to see if I can further improve the SQ with a recable...

Fantastic. Your finished product will be very similar to my LA2000 Lites! And a bit less money too.
Now if more of us were 'handy' we'd do this ourselves too... instead of paying MarkL to do his mods for us.

Well not sure I would compare my modded D27K's with Marks as his work is Top Notch but unfortunately for me the LA2000 Lites are a bit out of budget $$.... Also without Marks DynaMat mod my SQ would not have been achieved. HATS OFF! To MARKL For the outstanding mod.

So far my investment:

  1. Stock D2K's: $200.00
  2. J$Pads: $60.00
  3. Used D7K woodies: $80.00
  4. 8 new micro screws: $1.79
  5. Dynamat: $10.00
  6. Stock D5K cable/Furutech 1/4 plug $65.00

  1. Total: $416.79

If you're anywhere near SF, maybe we can compare SQ of the two!

Mine also have the Silky Oak cups... so even more $$

For a base platform to perform modifications, these Denons can't be beat.  With a chassis so well damped and void of vibrations, the possibilities are endless.  For what you pay, there is no plastic in the frame to speak of.

Do these D2000 cups fit easily over D7000?

SP- Do you mean do will the D2K cups fit the D7K? IMO they would just by the look of the design and diameter they both seal/rest against  the frame and base plates. I cannot verify as I do not own the D7K's....

Does anyone know if the driver circuit boards in the D2K-D5K and D7K are the same?????

If I recall correctly, the D5K and the D2K cables contain identical wires, just with a different covering sheath, so I doubt there will be any change in sound quality. I would recommend getting your hands on a stock D7K cable, which uses different wires.

D5000 & D7000 same cable. D2000 different stranding. Just posted on another thread by MarkL with pic of both.
