I figured worse case scenario I end up with a cable that has no advantage in SQ but is easier to manage than the stock D2K cable. I should also see a positive benefit from the dedicated 1/4 plug vs. the stock plug combo..

Those pics look amazing. This is exactly what Im planning but I'm till having some trouble sourcing these cups. I would also be interested in knowing if the cable makes a difference. Since the only difference in the D2K and D5k is the cable and cups i would like to know what provides the best sonic upgrade.

I would imagine it would mostly be the cups as the D2000 cable is fairly good itself.
