HesterDW, I see you have the D2000 with D7000 cups. How would you compare your modded D2000 to the stock D5000?

Also, is it cheaper to mod the D2000 than it is to purchase D5000?

Hey erod, I havent listened to the D5000s, but it would be around $100-150 cheaper (depending how good a deal you get on the 2000s) to buy the D2000s with D7000 cups rather than to buy stock D5000s. Of course the cups are not easy to find. Personally from what Ive read it sounds like more people prefer the D2000 to the D5000. But they prefer the D7000 to the D2000. Ultimately I think it comes down to music preference as Ive read the D5000s are less bassy, although have more controlled bass. I think its worth noting that once I switched the stock cups for D7000 cups my bass tightened up a lot. It wasnt until then that I realized what people meant when they called the D2000s bass uncontrolled.

get a pair of d2000s now. if you get them from jr then youll be paying less than what most people sell them for used. if you like them, but want more save up for d7000s for a while and sell the d2000s. thats pretty much what my plan has been. i got mine used instead of from jr tho

I wouldn't let the screw issue deter you from buying it.  With any product, minor things are bound to come up.  I've had mine for nearly 2 years and they've gotten plenty of use, with no problems.

Hey all. I am still very much liking my D2000s. Very much. Top notch at delivering for electronic and acoustic music for that matter, quite versatile really.

I have the J-Money v3 lambskin upgrade with an iBasso D4 right now. The D4 is still pulling through a ton too.

Though I had received originally two ear pads from J-Money that appeared (somewhat obviously) mismatched, I sent the two back and received a match for one of them and the craftsmanship is phenomenal. They have lasted throughout my sweat (slight) as well for over a year and a half now.. Good sign.

Just got my ah d2000. I was listening to some hip-hop and techno... Bass heavy stuff. Then I plugged in some Killswitch Engage (if anyone knows of them) and all I could think was "YES. YES. GOOD. YES."

These things seriously rock. (omagoshapun)

If this were Facebook I would give a thumbs up.

here's a pic of my broken D2000s

There must be a screw inside there that holds the metal part of the headband onto the earcup holder. I can hear it rattling around in there. However, when I tried to remove those two screws that the blu arrows are pointing to, I stripped the crap out of them. Do they even make screw extractors for screws that small? any advice is appreciated.  They still sound fine, its just a mechanical issue as you can see in the pic.
