Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

Appreciate your enthusiasm:v:
Made my input about the comparison in post #353, page 24 with me concluding that the 9200 is a marginally better pair though auditioned not using a heavy rig. Just from a quick skim-read, the thread had developed into users reporting about great drivability of the 9200s.

I haven’t got the access to my Denons for quite sometime though...might need to give them an audition again before finally selling them. Hope you try them both someday too.
Thank you for the hint.
Really appreciated.

It seems the higher you're climbing the ladder, the lesser the benefit will be. As always. ^^
But i'll looking forward to the day 0.

Have a great day.
Chris

Thanks for the hint. I searched again for your posts in this thread and found some mention the TH900.

I have the TH900 paired with a quite strong amp, a Violectric v281, the amount and deep of the bass is great, but i miss sometimes the punch.
Then its your amp , or dac , or you dont eq so its your amp , dac or both. I have six th900s and 9200. The th900 pounds all the time.9200 will party only on Fridays and Sat. The th900 goes out everyday hes a party animal. 9200 a little nerdy.

You're right. I don’t eq my system up to now. I usually prefer the sound straight out of the box.
I could give it a try, but then the question is how to equalize to get more kickbass without modifying anything accidentally bad.

Where does d7000 fit into all of this?

Head to head with 9200, better one way or another, less treble/high-mid emphasis if I recalled correct. My 7000 is modded with 2.5mm connector and paired with Norne Silvergarde S, full bodied and detailed. Knocks the 7200 off with its immense, satisfying, refined bass and is my favourite among the AH-Ds

TH900 will have less kick due to the large area inside the pads. To get more impact, you have to reduce that area, but the result is more enclosed imaging like the D9200. I found tube amps to bring more bass out of TH900, and usually these tube amps put out more dynamics than a lot of solid-states. Lots of solid-states tend to mute the dynamics with emphasis on the treble area. D9200 however is different, kicks with solid-state pretty good. It's likely due to the smaller pad cups that fits only the ear shape.

generally speaking how does the denon scale upwards with higher end amps and dacs?

i'm thinking of buying the 9200 at the end of the month but i can't audition beforehand for obvious reasons. on top of that i find it very difficult to find hi end cans that fit me well. i'm also considering a few other options but i'm finding the whole process quite challenging. would a headphone with high sensitivity scale up with my chord stack is a recurring question. there is a returns window on the denon which helps. if the denon is comfortable for me i think the deal would be done.

Hmmmm...you could just listen a little more to the music and a little less to your gear...it's a life changing shift!
(saying this having gone fully down the audiophile rabbit hole back in the day -- when $25K stereo systems meant something)

Seriously though...just buy the cans and see if you enjoy them.

Worst case? You got a chance to find out if they 'scratch your itch' and then you return them

Best case? You love them and...
