Denon AH-7200

Not on the D7200, but I had them on my Denon D5000s. It changes the sound pretty drastically, the pads are thicker and my ears are further removed from the drivers, because of this the sound is more distant, brighter and thinner sounding. Treble is more peaky.
I am not sure how much D7200's stock pads differ from the D5000s, but chances are the Lawton pads will give you similar results I got with my D5000s.

Has anybody tried the Lawton Angled Pads on the 7200?

No, but I bought these and even though it is tight they do fit. They gave my ears more room which helped the phones disappear (along with the headband easing with use), I found the standard pads pretty distracting really. No idea if they have had a detrimental effect on the overall sound quality or not as I swopped relatively early and haven’t gone back; also the sound changed dramatically over the initial period organically. I was using an equaliser to begin with applying quite heavy adjustments just to get a sound anywhere near to what I thought was acceptable but with time it improved immeasurably to the point where I don’t use an equaliser at all now. Not sure if it was the headphones, Q5s or just my brain that was running in but I really like what I am hearing now.

Hi guys.
I've read the whole thread and really appreciate all posts in it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. :)

The D7200 are with me since 2 weeks now and i really dig it.
But, and i think you'll know whats comin ^^, i dislike the pads for their small openings.

What do you guys think would alter the sound signature the least:
Dekoni Elite Sheepskin or Elite fenestrated sheepskin?

I've tried the pads of my SEM5, but for the D7200 i'm going to dislike the memory foam in it, while i appreciate it on the SEM5.

Thanks for any advice.

Keep listening to good music and stay well.
Chris

I couldn't find an "Official" thread for the D5000s so I will try my luck here instead. My D5000s have developed a ringing noise. It's not noticable when sound is playing but you can hear a faint ringing just after a sound has stopped.
Has anyone had a similar experience with the D5000/7000 series? Any fix?
According to this thread I'm not the only one that has experienced the ringing:

So, how did replacing drivers process gone? Can you give a little impression if you finished and listen with new drivers from China?

EDIT: Answer is at his/her profile.

Sorry late response.
Forgot to update and say that yes they are a worthy replacement driver and perform at level slightly above the 7200 , so they are a great replacement for repairs.
Signature is between the 7200 & the 9200..
They also feel a bit heavier, as they're casing is made of metal, unlike all the cheapo plastic frames of all the other drivers.
this helps allot in design, with any resonances.
I am currently testing to look for an optimal (& less costly) housing other than the 7200.

@Maxx134 Thank you for response. I ordered 32 ohm plastic case version of drivers after seeing manufacturer graphs. 32 ohm version is slightly less spiky, then I decided to go with it. There is also 64 ohm version but it is not looking flat as 32 ohm version. I ordered mine at Aliexpress.

Here is the links for graphs:

do you guys also know where can i purchase replaceable pads for 7200? i emailed Denon and they didn't even bother to send me a reply.
Don't bother with Denon in this regard.
I think you'll never get a oem pair of them.

Go for the Dekoni Elite Sheepskin for the TH900, i'd say.
That's my way to go too.

i can't tryout any pads here so i guess i will re-read this whole thread and blindbuy a pair of pads.

I've just enquired with the local Denon distributor about obtaining a set of replacement pads for my AH-D9200. I'll let you know how that pans out.
