Listening today to the Stealth and I'm amazed. With acoustic guitar it plays so well. It has an uncanny ability to convey the venue, the atmosphere of the recording. With acoustic guitar I love that ability. Sometimes I just want to hear into the music, to hear what the artist played, to hear the instrument itself. The artist breathing while their fingers dance rapidly or gently across the strings. As if they are playing for you right here right now.

Hey guys how does Stealth compare with AH-D9200? I know this is a Stealth thread, but I wonder if someone who owned both can compare them? The price delta is quite significant after all.

I already have HD800s and am looking for headphones that i would enjoy in the moments when it's a bit too noisy in the office or at home.

I have Z7M2 and want more detail.

How is Stealth (and D9200 for that matter) are in terms of isolation?

I have A90 to drive them.

I had the D9200. While it is a good HP and I preferred it over Stellia, for example, the tuning is slightly off, especially the treble is hot. The isolation is good, but I think Stealth is better. Stealth is the better HP in every way. For me Stealth is the best HP in the market, from tuning, details etc. to build quality. If you don't want to spend that much. I think you can also check the DCA Aeon models.

I do own and use regularly the Sony Z7M2 and the DCA Stealth ... If the harman response target suits you, it will be difficult to find something better than the Stealth which check almost all enjoyable features :
-> rather compact
-> very light (though less than Grado),
-> amazing incompatible features like a closed headphone with a large and deep stage feeling,
-> can be easily adapted to personal taste with some very little PEQ without introducing distortion,
The real drawback concerns the power needed from the amp if you want to reach some realistic sound pressure level, so it's almost impossible to reach such thing even with the FIIO M17, if we don't plug it to an outlet or use 12V Powerbank to be able to activate the enhanced audio mode.
To tell the truth, when I use the Sony Z7M2 with some PEQ (Poweramp EQ).... the sound quality is not really far from the Stealth, though they are probably a bit less details and the low frequencies may be some more muddy (even after EQ, but only with a true live A/B comparison).

The Z7M2 is far easier to be used with most of the DAPS (though over 2x300mw is needed for activating a good PEQ) of the market.
I would say the Z7M2 is probably under-rated. When I don't carry the Stealth to the office, the Z7M2 is the way I prefer to listen to some music in a noisy environnement and I don't miss that much the Stealth.

On a tipping point of buying the Noire vs the Stealth. Kinda newbie in the audio world, but what i hear a lot is tuning the LCD-XC so it compensates for the lack of bass. Why not do that for the Stealths as well? I listen mostly to Hip Hop and House music. Felt that (a not burned-in) Stealth lacked bass compared to the Noire, but had a wider stage and more clarity. Why i would spend more then double compared to the XC is ‘cause its portable/looks better/is waaaay more comfortable to me. Just wondering why nobody talks about eq-ing while with the Audeze everyone is talking about eq-ing it.

Stealth doesn't require EQ.

A little off topic - is there anyone in the general Berkeley / San Francisco area who could provide me with an opportunity to check out the Stealth? Thanks in advance.

There are some who report Stealth bass increases quite a bit with a burn in of 100 hours or so...
