Dan Clark Audio Stealth Review, Interview, Measurements

@mrspeakers Can you clarify the driver size? In the video you say it's 30% larger than the Ether 2 driver, but the website states 71mm x 45mm for the Ether 2, and for the Stealth it
says "It[']s 20% larger than the E2 driver", while specifying that as 62mm x 34mm, the same as the ÆON 2 and ÆON RT (and thus the original ÆON, presumably).
So 3,195 mm² for the Ether 2 vs. 2,108 mm² for the ÆON series (not taking into account the exact shape) when the Stealth should have either around 3800 mm² (20% larger than E2) or 4150 mm² (30% larger than E2).

It's 71 x 45, around 20% larger than E2. I was having a back spasm and in a ton of pain while we recorded the video and I got that number wrong. Doh!

Order placed! Will put up comparison to Drop ether CX end of next week!

also if cost is primary concern and you have another pair of DCA cans, definitely get in their club, $600 savings!

Sorry to hear, I can relate.
Also sorry to harp on that point, but 71 x 45 is what it currently says on the Ether 2 website. :grimacing:
Sorry, rushing. Today has been awesome, thanks for the orders folk!

Yes, that's ETHER. I didn't sleep much last night maybe it's time for happy hour and logging off; numbers bad! It's 50 x 76, ~19% larger.

I am totally interested in buying these. I have Meze Empyrean's and the open back is preventing me from later night listening sessions because everyone can hear them.

At this price, it is already more expensive than Luis Vitton luxury bags. Why are we not given a reasonable explanation why a "real leather" is not provided. I can understand if he says it about animal cruelty and all.
Yeah......LV bags are plastic right? If not they look like plastic.

I’m very curious about these but I’m going to take a wait and see approach. I need to see some additional reviews. The ASR guy hates all the headphones I like, so I don’t really look to his work for advise 🤷‍♂️

I do really want a TOTL closed back that doesn’t leak sound. I also don’t have any DCA headphones, so the Stealth will be another sound signature to rotate in.

Hopefully it is not too hard to drive. Closed backs are meant to be used in rooms with people in it, at work, or on the airplane (at least in my opinion). If something like a Hugo 2 can’t drive the Stealth that would be a problem. Sh!t my Fostex Th900mk2s can be driven very well with a DragonFly. Too bad they leak sound :triportsad:

That’ll be a quick pass, unless they sound really, really good.

the lcd-4 had a 98db sensitivity I think but 200ohms so it was a tough load....at 23ohms it shouldnt be that hard to drive but we will see I guess..the new abyss closed back is going to be hard to drive as well from what I understand...

I’m afraid of that too. I guess there are a few portables dac/amps that are probably powerful enough. 🤷‍♂️

I will wait, never been a fan of when people just rave about neutrality- sometimes that’s code talk for “not fun” or not enough oomph - will see
Very true <cough> HD800 <cough>
