Hi guys.
 
So finally I've narrowed down the choice to a few Senn's models... at least I thought so.
 
I was || this close to buying Sennheiser PXC450. However, one guy mentioned that HD595 sound amazing. Then I went to Sennheiser's website and saw that they have HD600, HD650, PXC350...
 
What do you guys recommend? I insist on around-the-ear headphones. They don't have to be Senn, but I prefer them. Also, the maximum budget is $300.
 
About noise-cancelling: I am not 100% sure I need it. I would love to have it, it's an awesome feature, but I don't wanna suffer from any loss in sound quality. I travel to Europe every summer so they'd be useful there. Also, I live in Minneapolis where I take the bus every day... so I guess it'd be good for that too.

Since you travel around around a lot, I take it that they'll be primarily driven by some kind of portable music player? And you seem to want noise isolation, so that pretty much rules out the HD600/650.
 
Take a look at some popular closed headphones, such as the Shure SRH840 and Audio Technica M50. They sound great, isolate well, but may or may not be as "portable" as you'd like. Check them out and see what you think. Also, they're at like half your budget, so you might be able to squeeze in a decent portable dac/amp in the mix.

Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that - I'll be using this primarily with Nexus One and iPod Touch.

What about some IEMs like the Etymotic ER-4P?  If you want around the ear headphones that sound great I would look at the AKG K271 which is a closed headphone.

Well, I broke it: the amazon priced Sennheiser PXC450 at $350 and I found a pair of the same (also brand new) on eBay from an authorized Senn dealer for $250. Ordered it, should ship later today.

For $250, the PXC450 is a good buy.  The cut-price is probably because the PXC360 (new noise cancellers and an update of the PXC350) is out.
 
Another noise cancellers I'd have recommended would be the Goldring NS1000 ... which you can sometime get for GBP 50 (~ US$ 70).

... although - and I must stress this point - you wont be able to tilt your head at all to sleep in flight as the PXC450's are huge
