I really enjoy Sonic Caps as well. They have great performance for the price and are my usual go-to cap now if I don't want to pay a premium for upper end Mundorfs, VCaps, Jupitor, and the like.
Same. I have used Sonics or Solens in 2 of my BHCs and have no issues and I really like them. In my higher end tube amps I use VCaps and AudioNotes as they justify the added cost to me.

Considering you would pay close to $500 U.S. for the unmade kit and your upgrades I would consider it a great deal.
I am not sure what type of volume pot that is but with the caps and other upgrades it is probably worth close to $1000 with labor factored in.

It’s a very high quality audio note potentiometer

Let go my Feliks Euforia and downgraded to a prebuilt BHC and I do like it so far.
Don’t have a list of modifications, I can see the Mundorf caps, though.IMG_2691.jpeg

Wondering what was the reason for the "downgrade":thinking:

I always built my own Crack cabinets so they would accommodate large caps as well as VU meters.🤪
And a small elephant if need be :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Definitely a good deal but still wondering the reason though :relaxed::relaxed:
Normally the fun part of the BHC is building it and upgrading it :upside_down:
because I got the BHC not for the fun of building it, but the price tag and what I get soundwise for it.
I wanted a tube amp in the 500€ price range and the BHC in that version seemed a good fit

A good way of seeing how folk fit the caps in is to just do a Google image search of "bottlehead crack capacitor upgrade" it pulls up lots of examples for some inspiration
Very good advice. Standoffs with zip tie mounts on top are my go-to.

I have a crack otl I did the 'ho lee' mod on with muse es caps and bradley allen resistors. Its great! But I wanted to know for those of you who eventually moved on from crack to better tube amps maybe with a similar sound, what did you go to? Thanks.

I wouldn't necesarily say that I went away from the Crack as I still listen to it often but my main headphone amp is an Ampsandsound Mogwai. I also use a Bottlehead Mainline that a rotate into the setup from time to time. Both the Mogwai and Mainline are technically superior to the Crack with SB but I still enjoy listening to the Crack as much as the other amps. There are some phones (ZMF Aeolus, HD6XX, HD650) that have special synergy with the Crack IMHO.
