iDevices actually have a pretty good DAC chip inside. The problem is the implementation. They used really crappy parts in the chain from chip to line out.

The somehwat older ipods used to have great dacs actually :0
The newer devices don't use wolfson anymore I believe.
Apparently the DAC in my iPhone is a Cirrus Logic 338S0589, whatever that is.
Would the BA2's be a significant upgrade over a Vsonic GR06? I'd like to get customs but since the BA2 costs a lot more than the $70 GR06 - which already sounds pretty awesome - I don't want to pull the trigger unless I would hear a significant improvement in sound. My source would be a Zune 120.
Thanks!

If you want smartphone with a better sound quality than normal smartphones:

If you ask me, I would use a real DAP to pair with my gear not smartphone.
I was simply curious to know how competant of a DAP my LG Optimus G. I intend to up to a Cowon J3 eventually unless you all may have better suggestions for a DAP +/- $300 that supports FLAC?
