Chord Mojo issue solutions thread.

The Mojo can mute the first second of music with no sampling rate change. @Rob Watts, from Chord Electroincs said it was because the Mojo can see a break in music as a change in sampling rate. It usually only affects the first track or switching tracks. Sometimes for what reason we users don't know, thers is no muting and it all works fine. However this can be got round by using JRiver and inserting a second of silence.

Same method used for fixing the mute when hardware syncronisation is needed when music sampling rate changes.

Managed to connect my mojo with the iPhone 6s this cable sourced locally pretty good and not too pricey.

I have searched thread and googled but didn't find any reference to this...  have posted this in the main thread this morning but so far nobody has encountered this or a theory on why it would happen...

Since this morning my Mojo has a *very* low volume. I need to push the volume to double purple to get not even what I got on double red. Note that it didn't happen during a session. It was working fine, I powered it down, then I powered it on this morning, plugged it, and the issue appeared. Nothing happened (no shock, no charging). I thought the source was at fault, but I checked with 3 different sources, different players both on device and computer, and of course different cables (that were working yesterday...). I also checked same sources with the same 2 headphones with same cables with another DAC/amp and it's working fine.

And before anyone ask, it can happen, I checked the source volume with both DAP and computer it was properly set to max. The Mojo is charged full and light is blue as supposed to be. Oh and I did try both headphone sockets, just in case. I tried to set the Mojo on line out and then turn it off and on again. Nothing.

I don't have a coax or optical handy to test if it's only USB audio.

I can't figure what's wrong, I looked up the manual but didn't find a reset sequence for the Mojo... anyone?
Thanks!

I kinda have the same problem/issue... though strangely my Mojo only has it on 2 of the volume settings (measured number of clicks from no volume) settings 22+23, everything else is fine, below that I get normal volume, above that I get normal volume. It just gives very low volume on those 2 settings...I can still hear music, but very soft.

I have tried the following:
* Connected to either toslink or USB
* Switched headphone between sockets
* Tried 2 different headphones
* Connected to either sources with and without the charger connected
* Changed sampling rates (44 KHz / 48 KHz)
* Tried different output (Wasapi, Directsound)

Tried that on my PC and on my laptop.
Guess it's gonna be a RMA as well.

Update: I fixed it! I left it on one of the 2 "problem" volume settings, then powered off, powered on again, voila, normal volume again on both volume setting 22+23. I just hope this was a one time glitch though...

I'm having an issue with my Chord Mojo Dac.

When I connect this device via USB to my iPhone6S Plus and attempt to play a dsd file (native or using hf player's real time conversion) I get audio drop outs once every few mins. It almost seems like a loose connection although other file types including up sampling sounds incredible without drops.

I wrote to Chord about the issue and they say :-

"As I'm sure that you're aware, DSD files are incredibly intensive on the processor and RAM, therefore dropouts will occur if the source computer/phone is not powerful enough."

However, I'm a bit puzzled by this as my iPhone 6s Plus / iPod touch play dsds easily when connected to my oppo ha-1.

Anyone have any experience with this issue and have any recommendations? My device is only a few days old so I can probably still return for an exchange / refund.

Many thanks!

Which app are you using now?
I have the same problem too.I think your Mojo is alright.
I am using Sony Z2, this only happened when i use hf onkyo player.

My temporary solutions:
1) Restart my smartphone.
2) I have to turn screen on while playing DSD files.I couldn't switch to other app even facebook while playing music.

I have no audio drop outs issues using UAPP but i prefer SQ of hf onkyo player over UAPP. :(
May be hf onkyo player still not stable?
Much appreciate if anyone can guild me.

We definitely had different issues, your fix didn't work for me when I tried something similar.

My first Mojo was squealing loud and Hissing whilst charging.  Sent it back to Amazon.  Seller - Peter Tyson. S/N MO23869

My replacement Mojo from a different seller at Amazon is hissing whilst turned off and charging.  Bought from Amazon Uk. Seller HiFix. S/N MO31325

I've heard people say their Mojo is pretty much silent whilst charging and turned off, is this really the case? If so both Mojo's have been faulty. :(

I'm using the included charging cable and an Apple 1a charger.  I've connected it to two other different chargers and it makes no difference.

I wouldn't be bothered too much but as I have acoustic treatment in my listening room, which makes the room pretty quiet and blocks out alot of ambient noise, the hissing is pretty apparent.  I use the Mojo as a Dac for my computer, I can hear a hiss one meter away even with the Pc fans spinning away.  It is faint but its audible and bugs me.

I could move it further away so its not audible but that makes it inconvenient to change the volume on the fly.  Also if i sell the Mojo in the future, will the buyer claim its faulty and send it back to me??

If the Mojo is turned on whilst charging once it cycles and clicks the noise becomes quite minimum.  But if the Mojo is switched off (no lights) the Hissing loudens.

Faulty?

Which chargers are you using?

Only my Anker PowerPort 5 with more load than just Mojo alone (e.g. charging phone too) is totally silent with the Mojo on charge with power off. It's just that it is extremely sensitive to charger output quality.

All whilst Mojo is switched off.

Apple iphone 6 - 1a - Quietest
Apple Ipad 4 - 2.5A - bit louder
Computer with modern motherboard Usb 2/3 ports - noisiest - in fact quite loud.

I've noticed the more power it draws the louder it is.  But surely it should only be drawing what it needs.  I plugged in a few devices into my powerstrip and turned them on, made no difference.   When I turned off some of the plugs on my powerstrip the noise becomes louder and grittier.

None of my other devices make such a noise whilst plugged into these chargers/usb ports. I've sent Chord an email.

Two bad units in a row, Mojo lottery?

I've been following - I did not realize you were speaking of simply charging Mojo. I assumed you were charging and playing music at the same time.
The Mojo should be quiet if just charging.

Also when the charge is complete and the white light switches off, the hissing is still audible.

I have not any experience with an aftermarket charger. Both chargers I use came with original Nexus 5 phone and Nexus 7 tablet - I typically use the tablet charger. I have heard sounds when playing music and charging, same time. But when only charging, no issues at any point during the charging cycle.

With me its quite the opposite.
With this Mojo it only makes a noise (when I say noise, a noise that is audible from a metre away without any background noise) when it's turned off.  You know that hissing noise it makes for a few seconds when you first plug it in to charge? Well mine makes that hissing noise non stop when its turned off.

Once the Mojo clicks, and is on, the noise is very subtle, and can be only heard by putting my ear next to it.  I'm assuming this is how the noise should be at all times, faint.

Plugging the Mojo into a Usb port on my Gigabyte G1 Z87 whilst the Mojo is in an off state, oh the noise, its awful.  Its like somebody just flushed the toilet in the next room (providing your toilet isn't a posh one)

When Ra97or said it's sensitive to power, spot on.  The hissing varies in amplitude if I turn on/off switches to other devices on my powerstrip.

I just wish there wasn't this quality control issue, as the Mojo is just a marvel and I'm proud to own one.  But if I send this back and get another that's doing the same I may as well give up.

My previously owned Oppo Ha-2 never made any noises, my phones are silent, everything else I use it whisper quiet, why the Mojo?
