Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

I hope you realize how deeply you are dissing Hugo2 with that statement. I hope you can back it up by explaining how it could possibly sound better. All the poly does is transfer digital data to the Mojo, right?

He said “subjectively” and in my review of the tour H2, I found the same for my preferences. That was before Poly arrived. While like Relic said, Poly plus Mojo sounds exactly like Mojo, let me caveat that with Poly+Mojo sounds like Mojo at its best. Without noisy PC or cable-transmitted noise, phone interference, or 3rd party DAP differences. With Roon, especially, Poly lets Mojo live its best life.

Again, it was said the BNC output was for the digital amp.... no analogue.

I don’t know exactly how it works either. Here’s a thought...... let’s wait for the release to know the facts.

"Here’s a thought...... let’s wait for the release to know the facts."

Good grief, that is too sensible. The next thing we know you will be contributing to Sound Science!!!

Lol, not likely. Some posts are too dogmatic there for my tastes regarding what’s audible and what isn’t. Science has historically always been right, until we know/discover more, which is why I’d rather not join the fray.

To avoid any backlash let me just say the previous statement is regarding my willingness to partake in the Sound Science conversation and not a commentary on others’ beliefs/perspectives.

My intention was not to diss Hugo as its great. I pretty much was more praising poly which gets heavy bashing here and there but I can use it very stable both via internet streaming or using SD card. This is of course still tricky without the ap but it does work for me even now and sounds great. For my set up with mostly hard rock music or rock I just find mojo/poly equally enjoyable. I bielieve that part of the benefit for mojo poly is better source signal than I can currently feed to Mojo then I can do it to Hugo2. I did not make very extensive testing but switching to mojopoly did not make me feel missing anything for my music of the Hugo. Maybe my current headphones Hifiman 400 I or my hearing are not good enough to spot the amount of difference. There are topics that people claim they struggle to see differences between iPhone and mojo, which for me is huge. But for my music I do not hear that much differences in overall musicality or overall presentation between mojopoly and Hugo right now. And mojopoly clearly wins right now in terms of connectivity and music operation in particular when streaming. But I still will keep hugo2 and wait to buy 2go right now it is available as it should put it my hugo to another level. Currently I may sacrifice whatever difference there is.... mojo poly is just good enough in my circumstances.

I think it’s nice Chord made the mojo and soon to be H2 network capable for streaming our personal music library but from my personal experience I’d rather get a DAP. Something with a screen and can easily manipulate my music without needing a source. Just my 2cents.

I have first Fiio x5 which I feed to hugo 2. I also had Fiio x5 third edition for two weeks but it was so depressing that it killed my interest in android based dap. Operation was absolutely sloppy.

Wow the Hugo 2 and Focal Clear sound good together... So dynamic and quick. Glad that the Hugo 2 delivers good bass impact with this can. I'm also enjoying the matching color combo of both lol. I know everyone seems to be on a black Hugo 2 bandwagon but this is real classy.

BTW does anyone have any specific tracks that I could use to help show the Crossfeed function easily to my customers? Would be much appreciated. I'm suspecting that a large classical piece would help?

You know, that makes perfect sence to me. Makes me excited about the 2go offering the same clean source as the poly for the Mojo.

I would be interested to hear your views regarding how the Clear handles traditional jazz trios and quartets.
I find that the beyer Tesla drivers are good for the bass detail for double bass, and also good for cymbals at the top end - the middle is not bad either.
So how do you find that the Clear compares to Tesla drivers?
