Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

Thanks, though I'd rather avoid the whole double amplification debate. The RME thread already has that contentious topic lit up.

I'm not looking for more power, but instead to shape the timbre especially for the ZMF. Otherwise, yes, I prefer to keep it simple.

In any case, my question was whether the RCA input introduces any noise with a tube amp but I will experiment when I receive the unit.

Shaping the timbre with amplifier colorations/distortion is a poor solution (and inherently not the «high fidelity» path) compared to the much higher flexibility of a good equalizer – allowing to effectively compensate for the headphone's tonal inaccuracies and to largely preserve signal purity, thus transparency. But if you really want to go it, better use a good (tube-)amp emulator software which at least would avoid the signal-path detour with the bunch of sound-deteriorating electronics components it implies.

HD 800, Æon² and – maybe surprising considering the low sensitivity – HEDDphone.

check that the sampling rate in audio midi set up matches the sample rate of your music. there are also reported problems with new macs and usb dacs due to t2 security chip.

but seems fixed once i set a specific frequency; had the impression that the light was supposed to change accordingly or am i mistakened?
