Has anybody have any good luck replacing the hugo 2 batteries ? Last time I checked, I was quoted $375 USD for doing the battery replacement, excluding the shipping

Blimey that sounds very expensive for battery replacement, I will have to check out the prices in the UK for the same service. I am about to send my Astell & Kern AK 380 Copper to Germany and have been quoted €40 and €20 for post, I know they are different products but blimey they are only batteries.

Apparently the hugo 2 batteries are soldered so it's not as easy as mojo ones.... 375$ is way too much to charge for just swapping batteries

Even so, I totally agree very expensive, I will let you know what the UK price is.
Ok thanks ! If I do decide to do it, I'd be shipping from Vancouver Canada so shipping cost is another factor to consider... Thanks !

Hugo 2 batteries use a mini plug; not soldered. (Like the battery plug on the Mojo.)

It's a shame Chord don't use off the shelf batteries so we can source them. They use custom ones.

I was recently chatting in the A&K SR25 thread. A&K will replace the battery for that DAP one day, for a small fee.

Based on the experience of some mojo owners, it wouldn't surprise me if that was $75 for the battery + $300 for the service charge.
$300 is too much for opening the case, then replacing the battery - something that you could do yourself in 5 minutes.
email support@chordelectronics.co.uk to ask if the batteries can be supplied by chord dealers.

I was really, really excited for the Poly/2Go concept, as I’ve discussed in other threads on Head-Fi, but while I‘ve been a big Mojo fan for years my Mojo+Poly demo a few months back didn’t go so well. From what I‘ve read on the 2Go thread it doesn’t look like that product is turning out to be much better. After managing to avoid temptation for years I finally treated myself and ordered a Hugo 2 last week. It’s fantastic in every way but I‘ve been yearning for a complete DAC/Amp/Streamer package that will allow me to fully switch over and retire my physical and local digital media.

Here’s what I’ve come up with:
  • iPod Touch 7th Gen (256GB) w/ Apple Music & Tidal
  • MeloAudio 90 Degreee Right Angle DAC AMP HiFi OTG Cable
  • Chord Hugo 2 (Black)
  • Dignis Alcantara Leather Case
What a great setup, the case is very versatile and allows me to switch the stack position around depending on where I’m listening and how “portable” I need it to be. Finally, I had to figure out how to secure the iPod. I absolutely hate the rubber bands, they make a stack look like garbage and collect dust/fuzz. They’re awful. I decided to use some velcro strips rated at 10 pounds to attach the iPod and it came out great.

I’m sure there are some who are curious why I decided to go with an iPod over another DAP. I’ve tried out a number of TOTL DAPs over the past 6 months and since the Hugo 2 is doing the heavy lifting here I wanted the best user interface / experience I could. Many of the DAPs I’ve tested have suffered from mediocre to poor performance, unstable firmware, half-baked software and crap WiFi implementation. The iPod is quick, has a fantastic OS (iOS 13) and App Store and is rock solid from a reliability standpoint.

And so, for my use case this setup has delivered exactly what I was looking for. :L3000:
