Portable stax with hugo 2 dac. Amazing kit. Pioneer dap. Looks like a pelican case for the previous enquiry. The clever ones will be formulating the 2go case from now.

Wow, amazing. A case to protect the case to protect the Hugo2! I assume this setup has some kind of water cooling.

No water cooling i'm sure....

Since the eternal topics of battery life and desktop mode came up recently, maybe I could add in by mentioning my procedure. And I should like to bring up the topic of heat dissipation.
Most of the time, I am running the H2 in desktop mode, which it enters after having run on the charger for 24 hours. Since heat dissipation is a bit concerning, I consider three things:
(1) Important: Charging the H2 (especially from low battery states) and running audio simultaneously causes the most heat. Thus, I charge it first, without being switched on / running audio. Takes a bit of planning ahead, but it helps a lot.
(2) Helpful: I always found that dimming the H2 lights helps a lot regarding heat dissipation. This feature is useful for much more than aesthetic reasons!
(3) Additionally: I am now using the Chord stock charger exclusively (2 A over 5 V USB). I had tried an Apple iPhone USB charger (1 A) earlier, but that didn‘t help much regarding heat when charging up from low battery states.
With these measures, I am running the H2 in desktop mode for days or a week without any problems. And it is sitting on the desk (actually a granite plate) in its original Chord leather case.
I am still searching for a cable tie to fasten the USB cable to the plate in order to get the Micro USB digital input connector as stressless as possible. I have a Supra USB cable - thanks to the recommendations here.
Maybe these remarks might help someone, maybe somebody would like to add or contradict...

Thanks @111MilesToGo. Hopefully my Supra recommendations helped. I promise I am not a paid Supra shill!
Why is Hugo 2 being hot a problem, though? I'm asking out of curiosity, not suggesting you are wrong

There have been some reports here of the H2 overheat protection tripping. I have experienced this myself once earlier in my >1 yr ownership. Why is Hugo 2 being hot a problem, though? I'm asking out of curiosity, not suggesting you are wrong![]()

During a heat wave I imagine? I have not had my Hugo 2 through that, but I imagine like here in the UK, it can get quite stuffy and hot indoors for a few days a year in Germany!

One of the most sensible posts on the subject I've read. I still don't fancy leaving it on continuously, but good to hear your work-arounds.Since the eternal topics of battery life and desktop mode came up recently, maybe I could add in by mentioning my procedure. I leave my Hugo TT and 2 on all the time with dimmed lights. I am in the automation industry and I have seen more electronics ruined with switch on/off surges than on continuously. Surge protection on your house mains is recommended of course. One of the most sensible posts on the subject I've read. Living in SW France, the only times when my Hugo 2 gets very warm, is during high summer (ambient temperature 35 to 40C), or if I have placed it on an insulator like a cushion or wooly jumper.During a heat wave I imagine? I have not had my Hugo 2 through that, but I imagine like here in the UK, it can get quite stuffy and hot indoors for a few days a year in Germany!
The rest of the time it rarely gets more than a few degrees above ambient temperature, even when direct driving loudspeakers.
If you’re worried about heat do not put it in a case at all. When I had my h2 I ran it in desktop mode left on 24/7and it was never more than warm.

The go to solution on these few very hot days seems to be to place the Hugo on it's side and use a usb fan. The overheating should not be a problem then.
