@WillOverton: Roon basically makes for me Poly useless on the go.

The reason I went down the Poly path was a compact size of Mojo/Mojo2 + Poly (it is shorter than ifi micro iDSD for example) and could be (in theory) great companion when traveling or commuting. Roon requires Roon core so either you need one with you or you need Roon ARC - none of the solutions could really work for me. Poly + Roon is a great combo when I'm at home, in fact the only setup that always worked for me with Poly has been Roon so far.
So how would you use roon outside of the house? I tried with the new pair (poly+mojo2) sent to me, they won’t in anyway connect to my phone in hotspot not even in max compatibility mode (iphone 15 pro), so using mconnect and qobuz doesn’t work.

The only thing I found workable is using poly in hotspot let my astell and kern to connect wifi with akconnect 🤷🏻‍♂️ but that is the world upside down 😂, I might as well listen to my astell dap then

Sd card is not workable if indexing is needed. Only folder view is acceptable for me

Right now it seems like a home only device, through usb the sound is noticable less, the poly makes the sound amazing. Tested now in various way, everytime poly sounded better.

I agree if it works, it sounds amazing Poly+mojo2.

I would like to have some tips to test if there is any workable solution for outside the house (I mean with mconnect, poly, qobuz and phone.

Usb connected mojo2 is no match for my astell and kern se180+sem4, with poly it is actually.

Perhaps view things from the point of a journey. Yes this is a phrase that has become 'business speak' and which I am not enthusiastic about.
Anyway, if you search the early Mojo thread posts, there were quite a few owners who tried AK daps as a wired source for the Mojo.
AK daps proved a good wired source for the OG Mojo.
I think that this was demonstrated beyond the point of reasonable dispute.

What does the Mojopoly do better?
There were many posts about what was the best cable between a phone (or dap) and the Mojo.
There were early posts in the Mojo thread about the potential for earphone cables to pick up RFI.
If anything the research since then has highlighted the importance of reducing the impact of RFI on the analog sections of DACS.
The Poly (and it could be argued the 2Go also) enables a connection from the source (Poly) and the DAC (Mojo) which eliminates the cable which can attract RFI.
I tried several times, although astell as usb streamer sounds better than with phone, but everytime I stream to the poly it makes me like the mojo2, usb connected not so much

@jjazzy the only feasible use case for me would be to setup another Roon core on my notebook and carry it with me together with Poly and Mojo/Mojo2. That is why I have focused on SD card playback feature as it has most sense IMHO, unfortunately the GoFiguer app is so simplistic it fails to manage those playlist by itself and you need to take additional steps :(

It is quite annoying how good the poly+mojo2 sounds when it works 😂. I slowly start to understand why so many work around the issues

I know how well (better) the hugo2+2go sounds but that I call transportable not portable. And at home I already own a tt2+mscaler, don’t need another big bricksize 😁

If you didn't already know, you can use BubbleUPnP in conjunction with BubbleUPnP Server to stream to Poly remotely using UPnP, including high-resolution tracks.

Indexing the SD card and using Mconnect is not a bad way to go. Unless you are adding albums daily, indexing even once a week not an issue. I index at least twice a month.

Hi,

I bought a Mojo2 almost 6 months ago for mobile use. I am mightily impressed with the sound coming out of this small device! I was not expecting this. Because of reports that Poly would improve on this especially with sd card playback, I could not resist getting a Poly. Furthermore the convenience of not having an extra cable between smartphone and Mojo2 makes it far more portable.

Indeed getting the Poly to work properly is a b....

I use an android smartphone with the Mojo2/Poly. I use Qobuz.

A have a couple of use case scenarios.
Let me start in this post with the easiest one;

While being at home I would like to listen to Qobuz. I connect to wifi with the internet modem being in the same room. I use only this modem, nothing extra. I tried using UAPP (usb audio player pro). This works perfectly without Poly connecting android smartphone to Mojo2 with a cable. But now with Poly it's almost impossible to get a track to work. 2 seconds and interruption etc. The same with BubbleUpNP, but a little better. Than I tried Mconnect which works oké, not perfect.

How are other Poly users getting Qobuz to work with Poly/Mojo2 using an android smartphone? What application are they using, is there something better than Mconnect for connecting android smartphone to Poly? Are there differences in sound quality using Mconnect or another application?

To not make this post overly complicated I will ask for other use case scenarios in another post.

Any advice would be much appreciated!
I have used Audirvāna for years. Works well to poly and and all dlna devices on your network. I use its upscale functionality and it sounds so much better than AirPlay. It can connect to Tidal and qobuz. It’s a lot cheaper than Roon. There is a free iOS app to control it remotely from your pc or Mac. Subscription model and also a perpetual license is offered.

Audirvāna can read the Poly SD Card too ? That would be an advantage over Roon/UAPP/BlubleUPnP

I can connect to the personal hotspot on my iphone14 pro in max compatibility mode. The iPhone 15 pro added wifi6e on top of the wifi6 in the 14 so there may be some quirk in the new implementation on the 15 pro. There are reported WiFi connectivity issues with the 15 pro.

If you do it this way you still only have AirPlay quality so working through the playlist challenges and using poly in airplane mode is still the best option. I use Roon at home and when I’m on location with a WiFi hotspot and my Roon server running on my laptop. When I’m out and about I use the SDCard.

No, Audirvana cannot read Poly's SD Card nor does it have any remote access functionality (i.e. away from home).

I think Miter has a better leather case design, and there is another manufactoer in the ukraine (who still sells) that look nice

https://www.etsy.com/nl/shop/VALENTINUM?ref=shop-header-name&listing_id=1700361256&from_page=listing

https://www.etsy.com/listing/1708750488/chord-mojo-mojo-2-poly-leather-case?ref=yr_purchases

I recently received the case from this link (Ukraine seller) and it's my new favorite for Mojo2+Poly combo. I also have the premium leather (Chord design), and Miter cases and when I compare them all the case from Ukraine seller is just as rigid as the premium leather case which I really like (Miter is the least rigid) but it's far easier to get the devices in/out of this new case and it has ventilation openings on the bottom. Also, the ports and lights are all accessible/visible (lights easier to see than on the premium leather case). The only advantage of the premium leather case is the built in handstrap which I wish I would have asked the seller to Ukraine to add but still his case is overall the best in my opinion.

I've been thinking about buying downloads of few albums to play from SD card in Poly hotspot mode and they are offered in DSD 2.8 Ghz, DSD 5.6 Ghz, and DSD 11.28 Ghz. Normally I would default to buying the highest resoution downloads but dont want to buy something Mojo2+Poly can't handle or that it would have to downsample.
Does anyone know up to which DSD resolutions can Mojo2 play via Poly (without downsampling)?

DSD256 is the Mojo2 max.

I have no issues personally with DSD64.

Chord DACs convert DSD to PCM, so you’d be better off getting a 96 or 192 kHz version instead.

Thanks - I did not know this. In that case makes no sense to buy DSD at all becasue those versions are all available for all the albums I'm interested in.
