You can use your cellular wireless when connected to Mojo2+Poly running in Hotspot mode.
This works well if you are using the Poly for SD card playback and you carry only one mobile phone. Instructions are for Apple, Android is similar.
The Poly will have a iOS network name “Poly-########”. This is located on the iPhone’s Settings -> Wi-Fi.
Simple choose the small “I” in circle to the right of the Poly’s name in Network and complete the following:
*** Change “Configure IP” to manual.
Choose any 192.168.1.xxx address except 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0
Leave Router blank.
*** Configure DNS manually - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are Google’s DNS servers and they work fine.
I also enable “Low Data Mode”
iOS will remember your settings unless you choose “Forget this Network”.
The blank gateway will allow iOS to route items destined to the internet to your cellular data instead of the Poly (which is 192.168.1.1).
Auto-Join will connect to the Poly network when it’s available and disabling Auto-Login will prevent the Poly’s internal login page.
This is the process that I use to enable hotspot mode.
1. Power on the Mojo2/Poly
2. Open Gofigure - attach to your Poly and choose Hotspot mode (top left icon), Poly will confirm and reboot.
3. Connect to Poly WiFi network in iOS. I enable Auto-Join and disable Auto-Login.
4. Use your MPD software to access the Poly’s SD card - if you set a manual IP without a Router / Gateway - you will have internet access via your iPhone’s cellular plan.
When finished - you can simply go into GoFigure and disable Hotspot mode - I usually just choose “Airplane / Bluetooth” mode, confirm and let the Poly reboot. Then turn off your Mojo2/Poly.
While this somewhat intricate - it allows you to use your iPhone with the Poly with cellular data.
This is working as of iOS 17.5.1.
I also have to post a very positive experience with the Sound Organization’s Rick Williford.
I sent my Poly on for a new battery and the entire process was seamless. They completed the work and my Poly is working perfectly and returned to me in less than one week.
They even re-positioned the optical light that can fall out if you take apart your device.
I’ve written a couple of posts regarding the Poly’s battery and how to replace it. I would recommend using the Sound Organization or any other Chord approved vendor if you want your device resorted it it’s original health.
The new battery charges to 100% and discharges about 10-12 percent per hour of use - just like it was new.
Plus I retained my original battery and its connector - so I can attempt to create a on/off toggle switch for the Poly battery. If I’m successful - I’ll post it here.
The Sound Organization email is “support (at) soundorg.com”.
