You can use your cellular wireless when connected to Mojo2+Poly running in Hotspot mode.
This works well if you are using the Poly for SD card playback and you carry only one mobile phone. Instructions are for Apple, Android is similar.

The Poly will have a iOS network name “Poly-########”. This is located on the iPhone’s Settings -> Wi-Fi.

Simple choose the small “I” in circle to the right of the Poly’s name in Network and complete the following:
*** Change “Configure IP” to manual.
Choose any 192.168.1.xxx address except 192.168.1.1
Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0
Leave Router blank.

*** Configure DNS manually - 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are Google’s DNS servers and they work fine.

I also enable “Low Data Mode”

iOS will remember your settings unless you choose “Forget this Network”.

The blank gateway will allow iOS to route items destined to the internet to your cellular data instead of the Poly (which is 192.168.1.1).
Auto-Join will connect to the Poly network when it’s available and disabling Auto-Login will prevent the Poly’s internal login page.

This is the process that I use to enable hotspot mode.

1. Power on the Mojo2/Poly
2. Open Gofigure - attach to your Poly and choose Hotspot mode (top left icon), Poly will confirm and reboot.
3. Connect to Poly WiFi network in iOS. I enable Auto-Join and disable Auto-Login.
4. Use your MPD software to access the Poly’s SD card - if you set a manual IP without a Router / Gateway - you will have internet access via your iPhone’s cellular plan.

When finished - you can simply go into GoFigure and disable Hotspot mode - I usually just choose “Airplane / Bluetooth” mode, confirm and let the Poly reboot. Then turn off your Mojo2/Poly.

While this somewhat intricate - it allows you to use your iPhone with the Poly with cellular data.
This is working as of iOS 17.5.1.

I also have to post a very positive experience with the Sound Organization’s Rick Williford.

I sent my Poly on for a new battery and the entire process was seamless. They completed the work and my Poly is working perfectly and returned to me in less than one week.
They even re-positioned the optical light that can fall out if you take apart your device.

I’ve written a couple of posts regarding the Poly’s battery and how to replace it. I would recommend using the Sound Organization or any other Chord approved vendor if you want your device resorted it it’s original health.

The new battery charges to 100% and discharges about 10-12 percent per hour of use - just like it was new.
Plus I retained my original battery and its connector - so I can attempt to create a on/off toggle switch for the Poly battery. If I’m successful - I’ll post it here.

The Sound Organization email is “support (at) soundorg.com”.

What's the advantage of this versus simply using the phones hotspot?

In my case, for some reason GoFigure does not see my iphone hotspot when I try to confire that. I could probaly find a way to force it to see it by turning off my regular wifi so there are no stronger networks around to confuse GoFigure - but that seems so ridiculous I don't want to even try it. Also my regular wifi is a hit and miss with poly. Sometimes it connects fine and sometimes does not see it (even though it's already been configured). The only completely reliable way for me to use Poly so far has been to have it in it's hotspot mode.

I just downloaded that and it seems to work well although it only seems to want to use the top level music folder on the NAS as its source where all mine is in a Plex folder somewhere else. I chucked a few files in there and it sent them to the Poly, no problem. £50 a year, though so I probably won't hang on to it after the 14 day trial.
I use minimserver on my synology nas. I also have a large number of upscaled files (using pggb @ 705/768 24b) which it can stream to my poly/mojo2 and AK SP3000. Roon is limited to 384k.

in the past during portability I also used the Poly hotspot and connected my smartphone to it but it was inconvenient because every time I needed to use the Mojo 2 Poly with the home network and Roon I had to enter GoFigure and set the Poly in WiFi mode and vice versa when I left the house I entered GoFigure to set the hotspot mode.
Now I always keep the Poly in WiFi mode and set the smartphone's hotspot so I don't have to constantly interact with GoFigure.

Just as a further to this. I was listening to the sp3000 at 768 and went and got the poly. Hands down the better sounding with much more micro detail retrieved and that warm chord sound.

Is Roon so expensive… and then support only to 384k? Even hqplayer goes way higher.

Do locally upscaled files benefit like hqplayer does?

If roon would integrate hqplayer, I mean not control hqplayer but use the upsampling possibilities, I would buy it like a instant.
So Roon will sent that to the roon ready nodes.

It is not like my mscaler but it will get very close.

Now the hqplayer in roon integration is just a useless bs*t suggestion, nice try.
Only a few equipment support NAA.

Well that is just impossible, in my neighbourhood alone I can already see 12 active sidd

Understood. I'm having good luck the other way around (away from home), obviously there's no point in connecting to the hotspot when at home (with LAN wifi available).

Roon ready approval for the poly is limited to 384k to provide a better user experience with varied networking hardware. If an mscaler is not available then imho pggb files are a definite improvement. Poly does not support naa of course but a quality usb streamer to the mojo 2 will.

Couldn't get Poly to work this morning- probably due to being on the iOS 18 beta?

my life.... I have never come across a device so annoying as the Poly, I agree when it works it sounds nice. But again Chord Electronics? are you listening! Provide everyone buying a Poly a lifetime subscription for Roon (or a heavily like 60/70% discounted version, or limited to Poly working only 'special' version just negotiate that with Roon).
everywhere I read the same, with Roon it works amazing....

Expecting people to pay 500 euro AND 800 euro Roon subscription to get it perfectly working is not done. Not in a situation where you don't have created a good working chord software joined with the Chord Poly.

I see even more active ssids listed because I live in very crowded apartment complex. Unfortunatelly I do not see the iphone hotspot listed in GoFigure (and I do see it from my ipad by the way so there is nothing wrong with it). Therefore this clearly has something to do with GoFigure and/or Poly. My theory is that there are so many stronger wifi signals available that iphone hotspot does not get listed as available because it's too low on the priorty list due to some dumb decision by the GoFigure programmers who think they are smarter than end users in terms of picking what is good for them. :sob:

To be honest I actually don't even care that much about not being able to use Poly wifi at this point and it's not because of Chord. My streaming service is Apple music (I'm not interested in changing that right now - used to use Qobuz but much prefer Apple music now that I switched). However, due to current Apple airplay limitation of streaming only up to CD quality I'm not interested in using Poly for that use case - if I really want to stream from Apple Music I can easily just connect Mojo2 to iphone via usbc and get full resolution. But for the most part I'm completely happy to just use the Poly hotstpot MPD and stream from my SD card - that works reliably and sounds the best anyhow.

Interesting as I'm basically doing the same (Apple Music via USB) and the Poly isn't getting much use these days. Of course when I want to use it, the Poly battery is usually dead... What a terrible design.
