Ok, makes sense... However, my idea was more, not just to connect a phone, but really permanently connect a dedicated ios/android DAP to mojo using velcro tape. I‘m actually doing this right now with my ipod touch and a DRF, was thinking about replacing the DRF with mojo. Ipod touch is really tiny, just a little larger than mojo, very thin, not much of a weight neither, would stack with mojo perfectly, supports all streaming platforms and dlna, costs just 200 usd/euro.... I guess if you need to use an sd-card, a cheap small android could do the same... I just don‘t really see the advantage of a poly, not even in a form factor, and poly adds actually more weight than an ipod touch... Ok, it‘s really more convenient being able to load both mojo/poly simultaneously with just 1 cable, but having a display with touch control at 1/3 of the price easily outweighs it in my case...

Well, that makes the decision an easy one for me, I‘ll probably just buy a mojo and forget about poly completely...

That's the thing we all have different needs and the £500 (in the UK) is not to sniffed at all
I was at first happy to have DAP/Mojo or Phone/Mojo but with variables like the connectors and issues I had, I decided about a year after POLY was released to go that route.
For me UAPP and my DAP were the ideal combination choice wise as 2xSD cards on my DAP, Android Play Store etc. but the damaged micro USB on the mojo due to connectors and plugs exerting pressure persuaded me. But Mojo and A.N.Other device are more than capable

I wonder if the budget would be better spent on kse1200 and a more ‘mediocre’ source component.

Superb choice KSE1200 (but I would say that)

Yes this is one of our biggest problems. It seems to be almost random the way that Android is implemented on different devices. It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer and from model to model. It has been and still is one of the most challenging issues for us to support Android products. Still we will soldier on and keep working at it.

P.S @masterpfa Android 5.1 does not have the ability to run Gofigure.

Surely this is another reason why Google Cast should be a priority. It works with all flavours of Android.

Yes it is a huge priority for us but not so much for Google......

Google's attitude towards supporting the product and services it offers has often been "interesting" and sometimes downright perplexing.
They discontinued Chromecast audio without notice earlier this year and I managed to to lay my hands on the last two of them at my local box store (the Play store was already out of stock). One of them is now attached to a second Mojo and pair of active speakers in my living room. The other remains unboxed, awaiting its chance to shine.
I notice the BBC Sounds app was launched without cast support. I'm still using Its predecessor, iPlayer radio, for that reason.
Are you able to share any further insight into why Google might be dragging its feet? I can't believe that Google would abandon cast, there's just too much hardware and apps out there that use it, but you can never tell with them.

Unfortunately I don't have any more information. From our side it's just a shame they didn't keep cast as an open source protocol that all manufacturers could use.

Ok then I think we have to involve the Roon guys from here. It's Roon that sends/controls the play command so the only reason I can think that the play command isn't working would be
if the file is no longer available. I presume you've tried local files and Tidal?
I'll add this to our discussions when we have a debrief with the team next week.
Any update :-)

Google will allow you to develop software apps that transmit ( cast ) to other devices. Hardware receivers though are a different matter and don't fall under Google's
normal development platform.
How about the hardware manufacturers like yourself integrating the Google Cast functionality into their products? There are quite a few hence Google stopped making Chromecast Audio product.

Hey all, couple of questions:
  • For home play I am using foobar2k with a dlna/upnp addon. Are any of you using anything else on the PC ?
  • Is roon worth the money ?
Thanks for any help.

For my needs Roon seems overkill (e.g. not needing multiroom) but the interface is excellent and integrating Tidal with my own library was good. A 2 month trial is provided to see if Roon is for you.

I seriously considered roon as I could not get MusicBee UpNP/DLNA server & control point working, however after the upgraded firmware released this month MusicBee works a treat.
Before then I relied on MinimServer running on PC

I keep meaning to give musicBee a go. Thanks, going to try it out now :).
