Flacbox seems to work the way I expected a DLAN app to work. I’m much happier now.

But I still can’t connect with Gofigure. I’m using FW 1.0.17 on the Poly. Anyone have any advice how to solve this issue?

Hi Everyone,

Our Business development manager Robert Wong has been testing alternative apps to playback the content of the Poly SD Card and came across Hifi Cast which upon connecting to Poly server, scans the content and shows the meta data. Easy to use and in his opinion better than 8player without the need to scroll back the folders. Sesam also works for iOS but for android this is a good solution. Have a look everyone.

Go figure works well and the MALP app to create playlist also functions well as long as all the right info is created.

Goal now is to take all these apps and deliver the message across to each retailer so that we are all on the same page with certain recommended apps.

Let me know what you think for those using an android device. Here are some screen shots if you need any more help please Mitch is once again the best option

Well ... I use hifi-cast now. That must mean something, if Chord itself says that hifi-cast is simply better than 8player :D

edit: But i am back to bubble upnp. It is the better app. bubble upnp just beats hifi-cast and 8player, this is quite obvious.

bubble upnp has the better interface, usability. ok it sucks with playlists but i dont care. sound quality is the same for all three apps. So, just get yourself bubble an be happy with that little freak´s mojo and poly.

Bubble best on Android, mConnect Lite on iOS in my experience. 8Player hopeless on iPod Touch. Haven't tried Hi-Fi cast.

Still gonna bang the drum for M.A.L.P on Android as being the best app for SD card playback - can actually play whole albums without errors, ie gaplessly.

MPD definitely seems superior to dlna. I think the music plays locally on the device, instead of being sent to your phone then rendered back to the poly (correct me if I am wrong). Gapless is certainly better. And I imagine since it is all playing on the device, network hiccups should only affect control of playback, not playback itself, right? Of course the one issue that still needs to be fixed is that the MPD server on the poly still doesnt index mp3's, so you have to go into the folder structure to play them back. Or has this been updated yet? At least with DLNA, it indexed everything and in my mind has a superior browsing experience since you do not need to know the IP (even though it should likely stay the same per network).

For me Glider it has worked. I am only able to switch to the next song while playing DSDs from the SD card, but not to put the window down, so that I can browse other songs. Instead, I have to terminate Glider app and open it again - is it only me who is experiencing this?

8Player Lite was totally unresponsive to me.

mConnect Player Lite has an interesting design and I did not managed to have it working. Have you tried the mConnect Player instead and that worked without issues?

I have also noticed that sometimes Poly gets disconnected from the WiFi, while using it in "Roon Ready" mode. Is that due to the firmware, or am I having an old Chord Mojo SW running with the latest Chord Poly's SW?

With DLNA the music is streamed directly from server to renderer, not via the control point.

I find Glider works OK with SD card but takes ages to sync with my large collection on NAS drive. mConnect Lite works flawlessly for me with NAS drive but won't play DSD from SD card.

Yes, via a round trip round the network, (with all the inherent issues that might arise) which MPD avoids - which was the point being made. Its the reason that MPD playlists can work when in Airplane mode.

Although it might be matter of personal preference, but mConnect's interface is way too animated and high-tech looking. I find it annoying. I have also tried to play DSDs from the SD card via mConnect Player Lite, but I was not able to play anything.

I just wonder if there is anything that works with my Poly as expected, or at least if Chord plans to release its own control app which embeds both GoFigure and a player app that is fully compatible with Poly. I would pay 5-10GBP for such app or buying it as upgrade feature, if I would have the possibility to have everything within one app.
