Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (On or Over Ear Headphones)

Any particular reason you're curious about these?

There are a few things that make me curious. I think they look unique and interesting. They have large (53 mm) drivers, a promising (claimed) frequency response of 18-30kHz and a very large circumference that looks as though they would be comfortable. Also judging from the pictures the build quality seems to be very good for the price, little touches like the strain reliefs on the plugs:

I couldn't help but be amused that the Mk 3 looks like tires on your head.  The 2 looks decent however.  Then again, if the Mk 3 sounds better, I'd probably give that one a try, especially seeing that I've been tempted to try out a full sized given the insane price vs performance of Asian IEMs & Earbuds.

Have you looked at the Mk 4?

Well, I'm interested like crazy in these wacko-looking Liechen HPs. The earcups of both models are enormous (which float my boat--can't help myself!). Earpads look extremely comfortable (again, that's my thing). The look is crazy, but my wife--the only person who sees me w/HPs on--already thinks I belong in any asylum, so no problem!

Seriously, I wish somebody could chime in w/sound impressions of either one.

They both remind me a little of that Somic model w/huge black & red earpad (can't think of model #).

Thanks @crabdog for bring this up.

If you search Aliexpress for "dower me headphones" you get a long list of headphones, many of which I've never seen.

Here's the LIEDCHEN Mark Pro:

They don't list driver size. May be 50mm, not 53 (hard to tell). Either way, love those pads!

I've had the LIEBCHEN Mark II and Mark III on my wishlist for probably 2 months by now. I'm still not able to buy them due to other priorities but thought some might be interested that they're on sale at the moment. $54.66 (Mark II) and $69.72 (Mark III).

Those are some really ugly hps (and I own the DT150)

I kinda like the unique look. Now are they closed or semi open? Can't tell. I'd be down if semi open

They make it just about impossible to say. The "Pro" and "Mark III" certainly could be semi-open, based on openings/perforations in outside of each earcup. But those may be just decorative. After all, the style of these headphones is really aggressive/overt. They're either butt-ugly, futuristic, or cutting-edge, depending on your perspective.

The "Pro" describes itself as being a noise-cancelling design. Again, no specifics. Possible they just call it that due to inherent isolation capabilities. But if it's truly noise cancelling (by circuit design), then no way it's semi-open.

The mark II and Mark III are appealingly funky. Wonder what they sound like?

Gonna try the LyxPro HAS-30, I'm wondering if it complements the B8 or if it's similar/inferior

Others on this thread have commented on the B8. I would think it complements the sound of LyxPro HAS-30, based on their very different drivers (beryllium for B8 vs standard dynamic for LyxPro). These headphones almost certainly would sound rather different from the mids on up; the B8 is described as having lots of bass (and the LyxPro HAS-30 has excellent bass).

I've been kind of background interested in the B8 for months. Each time I get close, I pull back because it's just expensive enough to matter--and I'm extremely sensitive to treble (it may be too much for me there). But it looks very well built & handsome IMO.

No one has ever done a proper comparison between the B8 and the MDH9000 have they? I know some people asked for a comparison, but if anyone has had them both in hand I haven't seen the post.

The B8 sure are pretty, but I placed an order for the Marantz version of the MDH9000 (I blame you Pharmaboy!) from Musicians Friend. It'll probably be a couple weeks or so until it ships though, so I could always change my mind.

"Guilty as charged!" I hope you go through with this sale. Hard to predict anyone's reaction to sound--but I suspect you'll like these headphones.

An illustration: I was lucky enough to score a mint/used Audio GD SA-31SE headphone amp (big, crazy powerful, with sonics much praised on Head-Fi). It arrived today, and I immediately plugged in my Marantz MPH-2's, because they're the most balanced and "honest" headphones I have. And wouldn't you know, it's immediately obvious to me that this amp is killer. I can't believe how good it sounds. The Marantz' let me hear all the subtle things this amp does.

I consistently said these headphones, despite their "friendly" bass (that I love) would make great studio monitoring headphones.
