Lo Pang, administer of WEM personal Audio Facebook Group has posted a video on Cayin N8ii with VanNuys VD718 (or VE071), I haver his consent to share the video to other N8ii users. The first half of the video was sharing in Cantonese, which I mean would not be understood by users outside Hong Kong, so I trimed the video and keep the second part only.

For the record, he also tried to fit N8ii with leather case into the VD718, it fit as well, but I won't recommend that for ventilation purpose. I am amazed by the tight fit of VanNuys VD718, unfortunately, for reason explained above, I can't find this product in VanNuys website, and the only information is the dimension of VD718 is 155 (140) x 95 x 30 (mm).

Let hope this carrying case is still available from Vannuys.

Just received an update from Vannuys, the case is available under Yahoo Shopping, if you are familiar with shopping from Japan, you can place an order directly.

Battery display issues persisting. Second charge since I posted.

It was 50% before I plugged it in (With the player not playing music)

After 30 minutes, it shows 100%. When I restarted it, it showed 55%.
Same, I have some battery display issues.
Charged to 85%
After a night unused it shows 100%, then 73%, after an hour of use, 90%. After the day it is back to normal and decrease properly.

Checking the marketing slides, not visually confirming yet, but TI-1612 is no where a cheap Op-Amp....lol!

Though the Muses02 is more expensive for sure, and while others do like it, some don’t....which including me. Anyways, the data-sheets also show that 1612A is a better performer than Muses02.

wait, did ROHM recently raised up their DAC chips pricing ?

Seeing the OPA1612 in an I/V is always great news to me. A classic part of high-performance audio in the past decade: unity gain stable, big bandwidth, and most importantly in an I/V, high slew rate.

I think the AD797 outperforms the OPA1612 in an input section, but only with careful application: the 1612 is comparatively easy to work with.

Has anyone compared n8ii to M30?

By memory, M30 from its dual NuTube output was warm, smooth, laidback, a lot less resolving, and with a narrower soundstage. M30 has a higher output power, plus they recently released another high power amp module. Also, M30 runs closed Android 7 with only a handful of whitelisted apps you can install for streaming. Vince @Whitigir spent a lot more time with M30, not sure if he still has it, and can add more to this.

You are spot on, a lot less resolving, and narrower staging. The new AM2 amp module has given it a lot more ohms and better staging, but still somewhat short on that resolving and staging fronts.

I have had them Korg, but at this point in time, it is safe to say that the N8ii is the best portable that has the Korg implemented

I don’t want to hype, but I will summarize it up. The Korg Tubes inside the N8ii is what a good 300B and Western Electric 300B would sound like, at least tonal body and signature wise. That is why I am head over heels for the N8ii Line Out into my 300B amps and 800s. My desktop and portable have yet achieved another level by simply adding the N8ii.

I may come to the point to sell M30 later. The only thing that I am still keeping M30 is because I can add some colorations to my desktop amp by using Korg Line out from M30
