Anyone having an issue getting EQ to respond? I am not able to get the EQ to response at all so even downgraded the firmware to 2.5 but still nada. Just turn on the EQ and use the slider to adjust the decibels on frequencies. What more?

I got the EQ working by re-encoding my flac files to 16bit to get the sound I want but this is rather counter productive
bringing them down to inferior level to make it working on so-called "high resolution" player. I am not even talking
about DSD or MQA here but let's get the basic done right first.

I really hope Cayin look into this for an immediate resolution.

Interesting..what's the bitrate of your audio files? Have you tried anything above 96KHz/24bit? Are you on fw v1.1?
I am on v2.5 firmware and this has forced me to re-encode all my 7K flacs to downgrade to 48KHz/16bit to get the EQ working.
N8 is marketed as high resolution player but if they cannot fully support anything above 48KHz, this is a serious problem.
The EQ is essential part of function and if EQ's not working, the device is not considered fully operational.

Just look at how AK lost their customer base by not being able to resolve their EQ issue. They said their EQ's for finer tuning
without damaging their house sound but you all know that's total BS. I myself never looked back after learning their EQ's crap.
Cayin, on the other hand, has this working on lower bitrate files but they should strive to make this working on higher resolution files.
After all this is their flagship device. MQA's good but fix the basic function first.

On a side note, there were some discussion about the 1TB sd card support issue but I have Sandisk 1TB (exFat) installed
and there was no issue so far.

Weekend spent celebrating 32 years since this record came out. Sounds beautiful still, particularly on the N8!

Like I had N8 SS before and now playing with N8 BB. Just realized BB runs extremely hot.
I really don't recall SS version running this hot. I cannot imaging putting this inside my pocket in hot summer day.
The metal knobs became just too hot to touch even..Any idea why this version runs so hot?
I hear you on the heat. But the knobs on mine do not actually get very hot, certainly not to touch.

This happened to me under the following condition but will not do it again. Burning the device with high resolution file connected to be charged while device was inside the leather case
face down on the carpet.

Ahhh. I do use mine while charging sometimes, but in the open. I will tell you when leaving it on for hours and hours, like when I am burning in an IEM for example, it can get hot in the back. Normal use though, it has never gotten that hot. I was also using the 4.4 output which may make it get a bit hotter. Tks.
