It sounds awesome on the go but from trial and error its best used with a fanny pack or held in your hand

Holding it in your hand is a non-starter in any city or large town in the UK and perhaps a number of other countries. Too big a risk of your N8 quickly ending up in someone else's hand :triportsad: There are lots of options for carrying your N8 out & about, a bum bag, a man-bag (or big purse), a large jacket pocket or a small compartment in a shoulder bag (I have a smart leather messenger bag but also a very discrete cheap canvas messenger back that was only £18 from Amazon, it's dark grey and very dull looking). Dull looking = thumbs up in a city full of scavengers like London.

I note that mwhals is thinking of home use only. I took my just arrived Brass Black to France in September and it loved the experience. If I needed a DAP for less secure situations, I would also use my QP2R.

Yep if you go to a shop and demo you will end up buying something. If you browse a Audio forum and read various reviews you will end up curious and eager to buy something.

So you're not buying a SP2000 CU then?

Not decided yet. Looking at SP2000 CU, WM1Z and N8. The ones that can’t stream are out, which I think the Sony cannot. I know the N8 can stream from a smartphone and the SP2000 can stream on WiFi. I just need to know more about the menus and drilling down artist and genres, etc.

I wouldn’t consider to purchase the SP2K which is almost same price as N8. To my ears N6ii is perfect and fit my budget but if I have extra cash I would get N8 BB.

In the UK, the SP2000 is £3,400 (CU or SS), the N8 Silver is £2,600, the N8 Brass Black (which I have) is £2,800. I believe part of the additional cost for the SP2000 is due to much larger dealer margin.

In the US, the N8 Black Brass is a little more expensive than the SP2000.

I stand corrected. The Sony can stream, so it is still an option. Just not a fan of proprietary charging cables.

I never find this in reviews.

1. If selecting genre, does it go to artists and then albums and then songs?
2. If selecting artist, is it based on album artist or artist?

Surely someone can easily answer these questions.
