The design of the Cayin N6ii was something nice and unique. It looks like a symbiosis of iBasso and Shanling and button from Astell&Kern

Thanks mate. Well that is a pity. I'm sure they could have made it compatible it if they wanted. It feels like a strange decision at a time when the market for high end DAPs seems to have levelled out these days.

no problem mate. maybe they decide to go with a new design or a new market for selling more new products, i think ibasso daps able to changes amp cards from their 1st dx150 until dx240 if i am not mistaken? that quite a lifespan. yes probably the company bussines aim changes so they go with a hole new products. but with the fast technology development in just 3-5 years a flagship could turns to midrange levels when compared with new flagship, not long ago i've demo hiby r8ii and the quality make my N6ii seems like an entry level dap

We mentioned one new feature in our product announcement specifically: the new Audio Motherboards are secured to the main chassis through a pair of toolless quick-release latches, we have received a lot of requests to simplify the Audio Motherboard installation process so that users can swap their Audio Motherboards swiftly. We heard the request and we put that as a high-priority requirement when we start N6iii development.

Once we changed the structural design of the Audio Motherboard, it became impossible to make the N6iii compatible with the N6ii Audio motherboards. This is an engineering-driven solution, not a marketing or revenue-generating plot.

Yes- us folks of more modest income have found ourselves in an odd place getting into this hobby. I bought the Susvaras a couple of years ago via a very good deal and love their sound a lot but have struggled to build a chain worthy of them. N6mkii with the R01 module has a really smooth sound but cannot drive them. All my IEMS are more than fine AND I recently found by pairing it (or my other DAP Hiby R8) with the Cayin C9 the pairing can drive my Hifiman Arya V2 VERY well- in fact I have never heard that set sound so good as that way. Excellent stage tonality across the spectrum That after carefully scrimping and saving to buy a high quality desktop chain. Finding the right synergy for the SQ you are looking for seems to be really key.

hey everyone!
nice to meet you

i have win an auction on ebay with Cayin N6 MK2 player with good cosmetical condition but does not turning on
i dissasambled it and found that battery have 0v at all

i have pushed battery a bit and it starts charging, now player take 5v and 1.65ah. somtimes it throws down to 0.9ah
but it does not turning on still.
if i will hold a power button at 30 sec then it stops charging for a while and after that starting it over again


mb anyone could help to troubleshoot it or have some advices?

I had a very similar problem about a year ago, my N6MK2 was behaving similarly, in my case, it would boot up partially and then reboot again over and over, in a never-ending cycle until the battery exhausted itself again.

Anyway, in your situation, it is a lot more clear, and that is good. Unfortunately, the battery in this unit is not user exchangeable, you will need to send it back to the manufacturer in China. I did this, the battery exchange cost is about US $25, and the round-trip takes about 4 weeks. This is well worth doing, this is a great little player. Don’t be discouraged,Cayin’s customer service is legendary!
