Just bought E02 yesterday. I tried running with them charged but the upper and bottom side gets very hot to the point almost burning my finger, then I tried listening without charging, still runs very hot after couple minutes and the way battery drains is abnormal, can only last under 1 hr, and midway n6ii just shut off automatically although the battery still have 40 something %.
Is this caused by battery failure? Prior to changing I'm using A01 and had no problems whatsoever.
Another thing that bother me when I play there is a loud clicking sound exist like about 10-15 seconds and after that I'm detecting serious hiss noise on my right iem side using Solaris. The left side also hissed but it didn't bother me much like the right side.
Any insight on this problem?

When it gets very hot usually i did that and turn on after 30mins but when I started to play after that it gets hot again in 5mins time

This is kinda frustrating because I feel E02 have substantial sonic upgrades from A01 but all this problem depletes my satisfaction

Any update on your E02? This doesn't sound normal to me, I got somewhere between 7-8 hours with E02 depends on usage and headphones, it if only last 1 hour, something is not right. It is unlikely a battery problem if you have used A01 previously without any problem, maybe one of the discrete component is running at full power instead of regulated by the E02 circuit?

Make sure you have upgraded your firmware so that it is compatible with E02, take it out of the N6ii and let it cool down, then install the Audio Motherboard again, if it still running very hot and draining your N6ii battery within 1-2 hours, you should contact your dealer and report the instance immediately.

fixed issue, apparently the device updates only 1 software update at a time, so when i thought it got to the latest update, it infact, did not. :p

Same here. I did a "refresh" and realize I needed to "catch up" on the other updates too.

Often, for any software update, I would just run another "update" just to ensure I'm at the latest where I want to be.

We adopted a progressive update strategy with N6ii firmware, a full update will requires downloading about 800MB but progressive update will only involve around 100MB in each update. The down side is if you missed several update, you'll have to upgrade several times because each OTA update will only bring you to the NEXT firmware. You can upgrade to the latest firmware in one shot if you download the firmware package and upgrade manually.

Hi Andy, thanks for your time to respond to my problem.
I've sent back E02 to my dealer for further examination and still awaits the verdict.
What do you mean with "one of the discrete component is running at full power instead of regulated by the E02 circuit?" is this one of the hardware failure?
i've installed the latest FW and already tried all posibilites including taking out and installing the motherboard again, but the heat problem still exist and the battery still drained like crazy and when it gets too hot N6ii just shut down immediately, maybe this is one of safety measure so other DAP components won't get meltdown because of the heat?

also with further examination i think there is a problem with my iem cable, because the 4.4mm plug is kinda loose and that makes channel imbalance to the point that i have to roll the tip to get to certain position so the sound got balanced again, i don't know if this cable problem will put strain to E02 load thus the overheating problem?

Because you said your E02 is extremely hot, so the logical guess is one or few components are over-heated, and the chance of discrete component overheat is slightly higher then Op-Amp, so I guess it can be one of the discrete components operated beyond the regulated condition

IF the IEM cable is shorted, it can lead to overheated or short circuit.,

My screen is no longer responsive. Here is a picture of it:

It seems to be locked based on the padlock icon at the bottom of the screen. I cannot unlock it no matter where I press on the screen. Any ideas?

Probably should have used TDK instead of Sony :p And now, the tape is stuck :D

What happens when you press and hold volume/power button to turn N6ii off and then reboot it?

There should be a forced reset I think. Something like hold in the button for 20sec. Can @Andykong help here?

I've tried holding the power button in for 15-20 seconds and it does switch off. I then have to hold the power button in for another 15-20 seconds for it to boot up again and I end up with the same screen.

I'm not hopeful about this!

Perhaps @Andykong or @CayinSupport can help?

Currently I'm waiting for the battery to discharge to see if that works, but it could take a week as I cannot play any music and I fully charged it earlier today.

This looks like a hardware problem to me, maybe the ribbon cable that attached the screen to the main PCB is either lose, disconnected or damaged.

You can perform a double wipe to clear the cache and factory reset the player, if this doesn't work, you need to contact your dealer and send the player back to us for repair,

(The Google Drive link has been removed, I have provide JPEG version of the Factory reset and double wipe instruction below)

I suspect you are right, @Andykong. I managed to regain a little control of the player using a USB-C OTG cable with a wireless mouse/keyboard transmitter plugged into it. I was then able to use my wireless mouse with the Cayin N6ii for limited control. I managed to perform a factory reeet but this did not fix the problem.

The screen display part seems to be working fine. The issue is only with the touch function of the display.

I will try what you suggested but the Google drive link you posted requires a login so I cannot access it at the moment.

In that case, I have remake the Factory Reset and double wipe instruction into JPEG, make it easier to upload and share on forum.

Thank you so much for all your help, @Andykong. I think there is a hardware fault with the touch-sensing part of the screen. I've reached out to Phil at Audio Concierge who very kindly answered my emails on this Saturday morning. My N6ii will be going to him to be forwarded to Cayin for repair. I am going to miss it so much as I have built two audio systems around my N6ii - as an I2S transport for my headphones system and as a digital coax transport for my speaker-based system. It's the key to all of my music!

just tried a02 ‘s lineout with a balanced portable amp, compare to e02 lo. there is significant soundstage improvement especially the frontal depth. imagining is slightly better as well. Vocals are pushed back by at least 30%.

Other than that the quality difference between e02 and a02 is not that much.

Interesting. More frontal depth is good. I’d like to compare the two with my desktop tube amp when it becomes available here.
