Cayin N6ii, Unlimited Possibilities: a fully modularized smart DAP

Just bought E02 yesterday. I tried running with them charged but the upper and bottom side gets very hot to the point almost burning my finger, then I tried listening without charging, still runs very hot after couple minutes and the way battery drains is abnormal, can only last under 1 hr, and midway n6ii just shut off automatically although the battery still have 40 something %.
Is this caused by battery failure? Prior to changing I'm using A01 and had no problems whatsoever.
Another thing that bother me when I play there is a loud clicking sound exist like about 10-15 seconds and after that I'm detecting serious hiss noise on my right iem side using Solaris. The left side also hissed but it didn't bother me much like the right side.
Any insight on this problem?

Don’t listen to E02 while it’s charged, it will get super hot. I would recommend to turn it off, leave it for a while to cool down and charge while it’s off. Then when it’s fully charged, turn back on and play. It will get a bit warm but not hot.

Mine still running very hot although not charged that's why I'm assuming this is battery related

Have you tried shutting it down totally for a few minutes and turn it back on? In my experience it should help.

When it gets very hot usually i did that and turn on after 30mins but when I started to play after that it gets hot again in 5mins time

This is kinda frustrating because I feel E02 have substantial sonic upgrades from A01 but all this problem depletes my satisfaction

Mine does get warm (a bit hot perhaps) but not to the level of when using and charging simultaneously. Maybe there’s some defect, I‘d suggest you contact the dealer to get a replacement.

Alright I'll try to contact them first. Luckily bought them from local dealer.

Update on the infamous ”skipping issue“:

Tried my ”skipping test track“ (CD 1 track 2 of Jacques Loussier Trio ”Play Bach aux Champs Élysées“, as 16/44.1 CD rip FLAC on my SanDisk Extreme Pro Micro SD 1 TB with exFAT formatting), listening to the T01 module via IEM; firmware 1.22EN. I simply hit ”Play“ on it from the list of tracks in this album just after launching UAPP. And boom - there is the obnoxious skipping, too!

You skipping track works fine here, I've tested it using the N6ii as a USB DAC and using the Qobuz app. I noticed this album is gapless so I wonder if that was causing an issue, but as my N6ii works fine probably not.

I've got the latest F/W and A01 module.

Thanks for coming in and checking. Lucky you, or better unlucky me, unlucky @Deferenz and others. I hope for some more companions checking this issue.

Note to myself: I yet have to test it with the other module I have (A01), and I also didn‘t test it yet with the N6ii being used as a USB-DAC. And I yet have to re-format my SD card as FAT32. And I would like to check for the skipping when the audio files reside in the internal storage instead of on the SD card. And and and ... Finally, I don‘t dare to update from F/W 1.22EN to the latest yet.

Why what's wrong with 2.2? Something I haven't seen/read about?

If I have issues like this with any hardware I always upgrade, it doesn't always fix the issue and sometimes I end up with other issues but it usually works out in the end. :)
Thanks for your comment, of course you are right. Don‘t worry, I think there is nothing wrong with it; 2.0 was flawed stemming from putting MQA in.

My main reason was to avoid introducing too many variables into my series of tests, so I decided to stick to 1.22 EN. Will update within due time, of course.

@Deferenz reported some issue with updating to 2.2EN, doing a factory reset and ending up with his E02 module producing an audible click on one channel when starting some replay (as far as I remember, may be incorrect). But then, my impression from following this thread since a year or so is that the E02 is the module that got the most reports on hiccups, strange behaviors etc. - on the other hand, to many of us it is the most attractive module soundwise.

No problem, if you need me to try anything else, just let me know. I have the A01 and E01 modules (still on the fence as to whether or not to get the A02 module)

Try changing the cable on your IEMs. I've got the same issue on my E01 with one of the cables. Looks like it has something to do with radio interference or similar.

Thanks. Will try another cable on Monday as I don't have another spare cable. I also guessed this maybe the culprit

I’m curious- does turning the gain down to “low” (under settings -> audio settings) lower the hiss? (Alternatively - Does it hiss increase if you turn the gain to high?)

Never crossed my mind to increase the gain, but I'll give it a try with high gain to see if the hiss amplified
