Ah okay, i see. My Pono Player is Class A in BAL mode so its possible to do for only 400 Dollars....
I've always wanted to try out the pono player but never got a chance to :/

In any case, class A amps aren't typically used in daps because of their heat generation and power consumption though I've seen some decently efficient designs.

yeah .. the QP2R has a class A. if u use the bal out it drains the battery really quick

This concept of separating the whole audio module, DAC+AMP is very interesting. Its exactly what should have happened on the photography industry with the introduction of the digital SLR's, separating the digital module from all the "reusable" mechanics, shutter, lens, etc. Although some companies attempts (Silicon film, etc), all the projects ended dying because they shortly realized the system has to evolve as one; by the time a A02 module would be a desirable piece, screen (foldable i.e.), batteries, etc. may have evolved to a whole new level and will be spreaded everywhere, making this less than desirable. But hey, this is only me thinking loud, if Cayin succeeds with this I'll be very happy, but its a big challenge. My 2 cents

Weirdly when I scanned your post I read “pornography” for “photography” and put together with the whole idea of swapping out parts to wonder where you were going with it.

I loved the N5ii/N5iiS but it was just a little too laggy/finacky for a modern DAP and I eventually decided in another direction after auditioning a friend's for some time.

Sadly, the N6ii is not the device I was hoping for. Alas, the wait for the perfect DAP continues...

Try sorting 'by Artist' and looking under "the Rolling Stones"...
But the Stones syng this one, "No, you can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
You can't always get what you want
And if you try sometime you find
You get what you need"
We here already had what we needed but in order to stay in this hobby we chase for the next best thing so we can get on forums to get close with others who are in this chase.

Very exciting product, this takes the FiiO / iBasso amp module concept one step further and I like the idea of different DAC chips on top of different amps very much... now tell me there will be a motherboard with NuTubes and I am in !

One step further would be interchangeable DACs AND interchangeable amps :p
