Sold my Trio and never looked back. Different strokes for different folks. Both IEMs, the PP8 and Trio are very good.
pp8 is definitely amazing no doubt

I've noticed that listening to Tidal hi-res really eats the battery on this thing. I'm not sure it's going to make a 6 hour session.

I agree. You can open a roth IRA with that kind of money for retirement or buy a very good used car. It would buy a heating and cooling system for most homes.

Someone asked me if Vannuys N8 carrying case will fit N8? I have taken a few photo to illustrate this.

Basically only the Pre Track button is out of reach, otherwise the Vannuys N8 case fit pretty well.

For the record, Dignis is working on a N6ii case, they just showed me the first prototype last week, hopefully we'll see more photo with material that closely assemble the final product in very near future.

The photos of Van Nuys case looks like for N6ii which shown inside it but N8?

Has anyone tried unlocking the bootloader on this DAP? With the standard "fastboot oem unlock"? Unlocking the bootloader is not rooting and does not change the functionality of the device, it is also reversible with a similar command.

"Magisk" allows a simple, completely reversible root using nothing but a patched stock boot.img (no custom recovery or anything like that). This can be done with the android SDK default commands, but a locked bootloader might check the hash of the boot.img and stop boot. In the DX220 thread, they provide a flashing tool in the OP (by iBasso) to allow another member's magisk boot.img to allow playstore (not by default) as well as viper4android. It's probably the only thing I think the DX220 has over this beautiful looking and sounding device. Viper allows incredible control over the musical output of the device and enhances the options and listening experience.

I fully understand and accept the warranty implications (though this should be completely reversible), and if you don't want me to talk root in the thread @Andykong please just say so.

ya...without A01, I heard the demo for both. But prefer sound from T01

Can you give an idea of how the sound of T01 differs to A01? i.e. is it more neutral, crisper, brighter etc
