Cayin N5ii Technical Support thread

@Andykong, Are the development team still working on usb issue? I don't think so.. It took a very very long time. Are they coding usb protocol from scratch?!! When will the new production firmware be available?

Yes, we are still working on it, I can't offer anything to proof this to you at this moment, only my word. A new firmware is on the way, we'll roll out whatever we have achieved on USB Audio improvement and solving a few bug including the 30min playback time bug that were around since the i5.

@CayinSupport , Are there different types of digital connection options for N5ii to Chord Hugo-1 v2 other than USB type-c to RCA(using CS30CTR cable)and usb type-c to Micro USB?

N5ii and N5iiS only support TWO digital output options, USB Audio and S/PDIF coaxial and you have listed them all in your questions already.

Updated the firmware to 3.5EN.
Sorry to see that the problem with cue sheet files are not solved: when I listen an album with one large flac file and related cue, there is a sort of little pause between tracks.
I noticed also another problem (seen also with 3.3EN firmware). Sometimes (I don't know why), when a cue sheet file is selected, the playlist created by N5ii got all tracks in the cue plus one track that is the entire album.
Hope that this problems can be solved!

A failed OTA update left a file with a name ".update__tp.xml" on the root of my device. Do I need to keep this file on the device or can I delete it? It contents are:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="true"?>

-<FileInfo URI="http://down.cayin.cn:2300/UpdateOta...UpdateOta/android?product=N5MK2&version=2.1en" ReceiveLength="84613808" Length="298385408" Name="update.zip">

-<Pieces>

<Piece PosNow="84613808" End="298385407" Start="0"/>

</Pieces>

</FileInfo>

Can anyone please help? My volume knob does not work anymore... i have no idea how to tweak volume now. Also, everytime i change my iem in either balanced or single-ended (removing plug from jack) there will be this loong delay and a stutter after pausing a song. >4seconds and then stutter then pause. Is there any work around for this?

The pause issue may be resolved by clearing the cache and or turning Bluetooth on/off. It is an issue Cayin is working on.

On the volume, not sure... if you can’t adjust...

Here another question:
I would like to change the default cayin music player with the new and advanced "power amp music player", because it runs really smooth, it offers a lot of features and it runs much much better than the default cayin music player, also some bluetooth transmission problems that I was expecting with the default cayin mp doesn't appears at all with the power amp mp. So, is it possible to enable a sort of audio priority mode also for the power amp app, some sort of DTS (direct transport audio, like in the hiby's r6 dap)?
Thanks

Hi, we don't have a plan to enable the AP mode for the third-party APPs like power amp currently. Sorry for the inconvenienced caused!

Personally, I can't hear any difference between AP on and off so feel free to use poweramp.

I tried blind testing it on and off and couldn't reliably hear a difference.

I only used the native player. The problem only arises after pausing music from the headphones' remote.
As for idle shutdown, I did not use neither WiFi (which I never use, actually) nor Bluetooth. The behaviour persisted across reboots.
I also noticed that despite the device being off, battery was drained at an incredibly fast rate - 50% was lost during the night. Discharge rate is normally lower and amounts at 20-25% per day. I checked yesterday evening that the device was off and there was no indication it was on. I will keep an eye on this behaviour in the coming days and report any findings.
A few months have passed and an update to the firmware was issued, yet the issue with idle shutdown remains. The feature works as intended maybe 1 in 10 times. I constantly find the player to be on even though the timer is set. The expected behaviour is for the player to always shut down automatically after the timer expires, even across reboots (as in "I set to 50 minutes, so the player always shuts down after 50 minutes of inactivity"). Please note this misbehaviour I experience is really consistent, as it persists across reboots, cache cleanings, resets and even on different devices. Two units behave the same. So this does not appear like an issue due to specific settings.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?
