Cayin N5ii Android based Master Quality Digital Audio Player

i had always used the internal storage without any problem, until it went almost full, only with spotify files, that's why i wanted to try TF as storage. :relaxed:

So around 1000 music files and occupied over 20GB? That is quite close to 16/44.1 lossless FLAC already.

Apparantly there isn't anything we can do right now except complain to Spotify again and again, hoping that they'll resolve the TF card issue later.

Spotify's highest quality (extreme) is only 320kbps OGG files, so 1k songs should take around 10 gigs, unless he has a lot fo concerts or classical music which are very long.

I was using 320K MP3 and come out with similar estimation, but you are correct, memory size is related to total playtime, not total number of track.

Hi all,

Quick couple of questions - can you run Amazon Music Unlimited on the N5ii? Am looking to upgrade my fiio x3ii and that would be a nice added feature.

Also, form-wise, does the N5 stack well with portable amps?

Thanks much in advance!

Stacking with my Pico amp is almost perfect. The only problem is using straps to fasten together because on the bottom of the N5ii it is hard to find a place (even with different control schemes) for the strap where it doesn't hinder the touch screen control.

How about reclosable fasteners? this will create some gap between the DAP and the DAC or amplifier, improved air ventilation when compare to using straps.

Yep, that WOULD be a good option, but I don't want to glue the aluminum body, or the leather case of my amp. Would be totally fine with it if my amp had a silicone case like the N5ii. Luckily for me, I only use the amp @home with a headphone so don't need to have the two units stuck together.

Two possible options - only use a strap at the top - this still holds them together pretty well, or put the one on the bottom over the home button and you can still press it through the strap. not ideal, but you might get used to it.

So I finally pulled the trigger and bought the n5ii. I received it just yesterday and I have to say it's a very interesting little device. I LOVE the form, size, feel...everything about the way it looks. I am putting it through it's paces and thoroughly enjoying the level of detail it gives with my Oppo PM3's as well as the instrument separation, spacing, width etc. All great. I will admit it's a bit of an adjustment to the sound signature (coming from a certain 2xAK44.. DAP that is pretty warm comparatively) but I think I can get used to this :-) . I do have a few questions for Andy/user who have more experience with the player. I know a hot topic has been the use of TF cards for third party apps. From what I've gathered it seems to be app to app whether or not it can recognize the microsd cards. Does anybody know how to get UAPP to recognize my microsd card? Is it a matter of formatting it? I have ~100gb of music on it that the stock n5ii player recognizes, but UAPP will not.
Also, FWIW I've noticed all the third party apps see the internal storage as what Tidal calls a "Memory Card" (where it showed up as "Internal Storage" on other player) and UAPP does not even recognize the microsd card and sees the internal storage as an "SD card." Andy - is it possible that some way that Cayin has formatted or modded the android OS (sorry I can't be more technical as I'm not exactly an expert on the way one would build an OS for Android) such that it's making third party apps recognize the internal storage as external and then not even recognizing the truly external storage?
Thanks to everybody in this thread for the help and suggestions!

Phew, another Spotify update and yet another synchronization to remake.... I'm getting really upset now. It is the 4th time I have to do it and it takes ages to do (3500 files). Might as well just use my smartphone x.x

@Pinky I loved your review of this DAP. It really helped me make the decision to finally go for it. What really triggered me was the iBasso it01 pairing. I'm on a budget and those things have been serving me very well. I like them better than the Fiio F9pro and the 1more Triples. I have been running them balanced through the N5ii all day and loving it. It has helped me adjust to the leaners, more detailed sound of the DAP. I'm coming from a X5iii which I do believe sounds good, full bodied and warm, but compared to the Cayin it just lacks detail and imaging.
Thank you!
