I was all but set to get the ibasso dx 80, now I'm thinking I might get the N5 instead. Two quick questions though. Does the N5 support cue files? How do I fast forward in a song? Is there an interval fast forward, like each press of a button/klick of a wheel fast forwards 10 seconds or something?

N5 supports Cue file.

I believe you can use the turning wheel on the front panel to fast forward, not 100% sure as I don't have the n5 with me right now, will check this up and come back to you when I arrive Hong Kong. Waiting for my plane at LAX now, so will off the radar for a while.

4.  Is the Fiber backside made of Glass or is it more like thick plastic, can it scratch or break?

I think this is some kind of plastic sticker... I have to say, this is the ONLY downside in the N5 finish.
Does it scratch easily? OOOH YES! Mine is full of very thin scratches and I usually take care a lot of my devices. I stopped to think about it, personally.

To fast forward within a song, you press and hold one of the buttons on the front(2nd one down, I believe)...you press and hold the 3rd button down to rewind within a song.  To jump to the next song, you click the 2nd button down, to go back to the beginning of a song, you click the 3rd button down...if you click it 2 times quick, it will jump to the previous song.

Good Luck,
Z

With apologies if already answered as this thread has grown quite long, 2 questions:

1) Does the N5 have a USC DAC function for PC?
2) Do the card slots work with the newer 200 GB MicroDSDXC?

Thanks very much for the info.

I have tested the 200GB microSD card with N5, works perfectly, I didn't format the card in N5, so it is in its default exFAT format. The player recognize the card and displayed the storage capacity correctly. I have tried index the Music library and play music files, works smoothly so far.

The N5 community is indeed a very helpful community, it is amazing that most of your question have been answered in detail already. I'll just chip in on some minor issue.

The USB3.0 cable provided in N5 is 1m long, if you need a longer USB connection, you can certainly buy a longer USB3.0 to USB2.0 cable to replace it, should work, and should be an low cost standard item.

The backside of N5 is genuine carbon fiber sheet, it is breakable if you hit it hard, Regular usage might cause the etched label wash out slightly, but the panel itself is fairly scratch free on day to day use.

Thank you very much

So the 200GB TF card is working with N5, maybe you guys should concern snap a couple of them when there is a discount.

I bought my 200G from Amazon too, around 2 weeks ago at an even bigger discount, so having 10,000 songs on the road is not a dream now.

Hi Andy,

I am tempted to buy a Cayin N5 but I cannot find it anywhere in Europe, I would ideally like it from the UK or Ireland, the only place I can see it available is from Hong Kong, which will put a lot of people off from buying it because of import duties and backup, etc.

Do you know when it will be available?

Audiogarden (France) is supposed to sell it but at a What price...(449€...). Living in France,I ordered mine from eGlobal (290€) with free delivery, 6 days shipping time and no custom fees at all.

Thanks Andy but when I clicked on the link it states it is out of stock.

I checked all the Amazon sites in Europe.
I wonder if Cayin's marketing team have gone into hibernation or perhaps there could be production problems which makes them so scarce?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and a happy owner of a N5!
I just have one question for this nice Andy : I'm a little confused with the equalizer that I set to custom and returns to "eq off" between 2 songs! And other detail, the presets I put in the customed eq change on their own... Weird.
Specially the 2kHz, that I set to zero. It remains on zero but the sound is like they're on the middle of the scale.

Otherwise, it's a great great player.
Have a nice day.
