Okay, so I've now downloaded mp3tag, but please, can anyone advise on how to use it? I've copied/linked an album to it so it's listed on the main screen. Filename and Path are populated but every other column to the right of these two are empty until you get to the Codec column, so I'm guessing this would explain why my N3 isn't recognising anything in the Music Category section and everything I load to it just ends up as a big long list of tracks.
I've tried finding a tutorial that would help me resolve this myself but I'm struggling to find one to talk me through my particular issue.

Maybe This will help:

I was driving nearly 10 hours on Sunday, coming back home from my Holiday vacation.
Now that I'm back on my Windows PC, I'll take a look at mp3tag, but it won't be until Monday afternoon, since I have to be at work at 0600 in the morning.

Wow, some journey! I hope you had a wonderful vacation? Many thanks for the reply. No worries, whenever is convenient for you to take a look. AndyKong sent me a link to tutorial so I'll have a proper watch of that later too.

Hello,
first, I want to say Hi to everybody.
I'm writing this post because I need some help about my three days old Caying N3.
It's possible I had made a wrong use of my unit, but I can't to listen any difference on my four headphones when I change the equalizer mode or filter mode on my N3. The sound type is always the same and anything changes. I use a lot of HiFi and portable gear and for many years, but something strange happens with the N3. I have updated the unit with firmware 2.2.
Please, any idea?
Many thanks

Daniel

Hi Daniel, maybe you could custom the EQ settings to extreme like below ,then change EQ settings from Custom to Off to compare when you listen to one song :

I'm using mp3tag v2.85, JRiver Media Center 23.0.91, and EAC v1.3.

First off, once you point mp3tag at a directory of music files, you have to select the individual files, for the tag info to be displayed in the left panel. Under Tools > Options > Tag Panel you can modify which tags are displayed.

In MC23, I had entered Track Artist info for the tracks, into a "List" type of tag (that I named "TrackList Artist"), in this format: Last Name 1, First Name 1; Last Name 2, First Name 2; ..., etc.
Then I noticed on my DAPs, that the Artist tag was populated with only the Last Name 1, First Name 1 - so you wouldn't know that the other artists were on that track.
So I tried making the Artist tag to contain Last Name 1^Last Name 2^etc. This works to see all the last names, but it only displays / sorts them by Last Name 1.

In checking and comparing what is in different tags, using mp3tag and MC23, they seem to show the same info.
EAC gives you a fair amount of flexibility for creating file names, but doesn't appear to be focused on creating your own tags - it pulls the tag metadata info from various online databases.

You're not in line-out mode, right?

Hello,
many thanks for your answers. I've tried to configure the equalizer as I see on the image and nothing has changed.
I'm sure I'm working on headphone mode, too.
I have tried to downgrade to firmware 2.1 and the sound is always the same, with all the equalizer modes and filter modes.
Maybe, can this unit to have a hardware bug?

Thanks again

How long does updating the library usually take? I just got my N3 yesterday and I have my files as .ogg + .cue and it takes a couple hours for the library to populate ~2000 albums on a 256GB mSD card...

A couple hours for that much data sounds about right. The speed of the micro-sd card itself is what determines that more than the player as the slowest component by about a full order of magnitude is the micro-SD write speed.

Hi, I don't have any other DAP.
I have a HTC 10, with a very reasonable sound output. I've tried the headphones with it (Sennheiser Momentum in ear, Shure SRH840 and Bose Quietcomfort 25) and I can listen any lighter change I do on any app on the Smartphone. The same with my HIFI system.
With the N3, the sound never change and I don't know what can try.
If I don't find the reason, I'll return the player to the shop.

Thanks again for your attention.

Daniel
